I’ve now received lio from nhs and want to start again.
some recent history….. sorry if too confusing.
My nhs Endo had said they’d prescribe lio again once my heart checks were ok . All was ok and Endo thought tight chest had been due to too high dose of Levo with t3.
I waited 6 months for Endo appointment after I was given all clear.
Finally had appointment in July and was re prescribed T3 and told to take 2 x 5mcg a day and reduce Levo from 87.5 mcg to 25 a day…… and do this all at once….she said I didn’t need a b/t.
Endo said they would do a prescription and if I had any lio left from last year start on them.
I had enough for about 6 weeks and started, wrongfully presuming I’d receive my prescription before running out.
I did a b/t and posted on here,
started on 5 mcg lio and 75 mcg Levo.
Stayed on this for 6 weeks then did bloods and increased lio 10 mcg day (2 doses) & stayed on 75 Levo.
Weeks later I was still waiting for Endo to do prescription so I checked with hospital who said they’d gone on annual leave for 3 weeks and hadn’t done it. A week later I ran out of lio.
so for 8 weeks I’ve been chasing the prescription and been off lio.
When I ran out I went back to taking 87.5 mcgs day of Levo which is what I’ve been on for the last 7 weeks.
I have now got the t3 and just did the above test before starting back on t3.
I’m not sure which doses of each from this b/t to take and would really appreciate some help please?

You could go back to where you started on T3, so 75mcgs Levo + 5mcgs T3. When starting T3, even after a break it needs to be done slowly and with low doses.
After a few weeks if all is well then you could add in another 5mcgs T3 if you have previously been at that dose and all has been well. Then get bloods done after 6-8 weeks on a stable dose.
Thanks for replying, grateful to get it in time for this morning’s dose. I had been thinking along the same lines as you only because I did that dose previously. I’ve no idea how to adapt it when the readings change. I guess the yo yo dosing has made things worse.
I’ll stay on 5mg t3 for 6 weeks then test and then hopefully, all well, add the 2nd dose of t3.
Thanks for replying and also looking at my vitamin levels from 10 months ago. Since that time (apart from gaps before b/t) I took
Thorne B Complex, selinium, vitamin c , vitamin D & K2 , & magnesium.
I’ve continued with these until I stopped B Complex.
I stopped B Complex 4 months ago because I plan to do a Blue Horizon Platinum Thyroid test & believe best results for B12 levels are staying off it for 4 months .
I will do that test in about 6 weeks after being on my new t3 & Levo doses.
I do have an nhs b/t booked in 2 weeks which they want done to see if my cholesterol has lowered from a few months ago when it was high and they wanted me to have statins. I refused statins and said I wanted to work on improving thyroid levels…… I think that’s gone to pot now after yo yo doses of the last few weeks and tsh of over 5.
Anyway I will ask for vitamin D, folate, ferritin & B12 levels to be included in a g.p. phone appointment I have booked for tomorrow. Good timing !
