12.5 mcg Levo, disappeared!

Am on 87.5 mcg Levo per day. Got my latest prescription (75 + 12.5 mcg) and pharmacy gave me an IOU for the 12.5. That was a week ago, and they still don’t have any. So I was told to get another prescription so I could go to a different pharmacy, I did this and no other pharmacy I tried has that strength. Have now had to visit the doctors a third time to get a script for 25mcg, to be taken every other day with my 75mcg. Anyone else had trouble getting 12.5?

Yes same problem a few weeks ago - was told they couldnt get 12.5mcg at the moment. As i get two monthly supply the pharmacy gave me a pack pf 25mcg instead and advised to either cut in half (very difficult as tablet so small) or to take on alternate days.

Mine have now said to take half a tablet daily but I don’t think I’d be able to cut the tablet. Presume taking one every other day has the same effect?

12.5mcg tablets are much more expensive to NHS than taking half a 25mcg tablet

12.5mcg = £15.79 per 28 tablets

25mcg = 75p per 28 tablets

Also 12.5mcg only available as Teva brand

Many, many people don’t get on with Teva

25mcg tablets available as Mercury Pharma or Eltroxin by Advanz

Or

25mcg by Wockhardt

25mcg by Teva

(lactose free, but contains mannitol)

Thanks. My 75mcg are Teva and I have no problem with them. Now have Mercury 25mcg and hoping taking one every two days will be the same as a 12.5 daily.

So you may want to ensure you get Teva 25mcg tablets

I suggest you contact Teva and ask them what is happening.

I did that with a non-thyroid product and found it will not be available until at least 2025. Having been unavailable pretty much all last year as well.

But at least I know and can make sensible arrangements (thankfully a near-identical product is available if I pay - from Germany).
