Ankle swelling

has anyone experienced ankle swelling after a TT? I am also on Lexapro and recently started vitamin D supplements as it was low but I have some ankle swelling. Wondering if anyone else experienced after a TT?

Yes. I had a total thyroidectomy in July (for Graves disease), and I noticed a few days ago that one of my ankles had swollen a bit. The urgent care doctor I saw was worried about it being a blood clot due to the operation, and a recent long journey. I had bloods taken to check for d-dimer protein, and an ultrasound scan of the leg to check for deep vein thrombosis/blood clot. Luckily both came back negative.

The nurse practitioner leading my care said that it could be Pretibial Myxedema (also called Graves' Dermopathy, not to be confused with myxedema coma).

I was prescribed steroid cream to apply to the affected skin once per day for 7 days, and told to wear compression stockings, which seem to be helping. Have also been referred to dermatology department.

Apparently, it can appear together with thyroid eye disease (which I also have).

Good luck finding some treatment, and do get it checked out to rule out DVT.

Thank you! Yes, I also had my TT in July, as well. My left ankle has been a bit swollen but has gone down. Thanks for the advice
