Possible histamine related allergy NDT

Hello

A week ago had my prescription for NDT doubled from 1/4 grain to 1/2 grain twice a day. I've been on 1/4 grain for 6 months.

In the last month I have noticed my anti-histamine reactions have become quite bad. Does anyone know if NDT is high histamine? it comes from pork which supposedly is. The allergic reactions I get are sore itchy eyes, sore throat, sneezing and severe brain fog.

I take a brand of NDT called Thyreogland from Germany.

I am trying to work out where this sudden anti histamine reaction has come from, I have been eating a lot of food high in histamine so perhaps my body has just reached saturation with it. I was eating lots of powdered collagen, buckwheat, sauerkraut and bananas and other high histamine food for several months previously, thinking i was being kind to my gut. I have immediately cut down on and only eat low histamine foods now. Taking quercetin helps with allergic reactions and I have been eating a lot of quercetin containing apples to try and calm things down. Also bought some liposomal quercetin which I haven't tried yet.

Any input very gratefully received, brainfog very severe and am running out of ideas. Also the allergic reactions are quite severe, I think I might have to get a blood test done with GP.

I don't believe that NDT is necessarily high histamine but people can react to many and varied foods and medicines.

It may well be that by eating the higher histamine foods that has made you more reactive generally.

This is a good list of foods and their histamine content. Eat ones that score a zero.

There is no reliable test for histamine intolerance. Often response to an elimination diet and sometimes the addition of antihistamines & mast cell stabilising medications can confirm the diagnosis.

Is your Medication NDT or just Glandular Porcine. If it's glandular and porcine you could try Bovine glandular maybe. I would think that it's just the food intake.

I’m not sure. Its a product called Thyreogland from a pharmacy in Munich. It’s supposedly equivalent to Armour although the T4/T3 ratio is slightly different. Made from desiccated pig thyroid.

They claim a standardised potency and declare that. Therefore, from the point of view of both medicine authorities and most members here, that would count as Natural Desiccated Thyroid medicine.

We usually call products which do not standardise and inform their thyroid hormone content (if any) as glandulars.

Not perfect definitions but we need to have some sort of starting point.

I have now been onto their site and it's Natural Desiccated Thyroid NDT I couldn't find the ratio but it's made in several different sizes to suit. The ingredient contain rice starch as a filler itis the same ratio as Thyroid s 4:1 The site is not at all clear.
