Blood test Timings

The last 2 blood tests I had have gone awry... For the last year, I've followed the guidance on here re timings, dosage fasting etc. But the last 2 were sprung on me last minute, so I had taken my levo dose the night before and my blood test was late morning, plus I'd eaten.

These 2 blood tests were:

JUNE

Tsh 0.24 (0.27-4.2). FT4 20.6 (10.8-25.5)

AUG

Tsh 0.23 (0.27-4.2). Ft4 22. 3(10.8-25.5)

Previously, following the blood test timing guidance on here I was

MARCH

Tsh 1. 32 (0.27-4.2). FT4 17.9 (10.8-25.5)

Is this how blood test timings effects the results? My dose has not changed.

just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate

when we’re Vitamin D, folate and B12 last tested

You’re still working on low iron ferritin

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

On T3 - day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day with last dose 8-12 hours before test

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

FT4: 17.9 pmol/l (Range 10.8 - 25.5)

Ft4 only 48.30% through range

March test when left correct timing

Suggests you have room for dose increase in levothyroxine

Aug test when testing unexpectedly

FT4: 22.3 pmol/l (Range 10.8 - 25.5)

Ft4 at 78.23% through range

I'd say the results of those last two tests were at very least unreliable. Before you or you doctor make any changes, I'd certainly retest using your normal test "protocol".
