Recently, I have been looking into alternatives to Thyroid-S, including Metavive and other glandulars. Unfortunately, there are not many glandulars with porcine thyroid; most are bovine. There used to be one brand called Nutri-Meds which had good reviews, but it seems to have been discontinued. The only other porcine version I have found is Thyro Active which has very bad reviews (someone even refers to it as "Thyro Inactive"...).
Metavive is quite expensive, and only available as 15 and 30 mg capsules. I used to feel fine on 4 grains of Thyroid-S, which would mean 8 capsules of Metavive II daily. Since each bottle contains 90 capsules, I would need three bottles a month. That will turn out quite expensive as each bottle costs €33.
So, I contacted their seller in the EU to ask about Metavive Pro which is twice as strong as Metavive II, after seeing a video where UK naturopath Roderick Lane talks about this product. It would really be much more cost-effective for me. However, I was told it is only available through licensed practitioners. They even claim it would be illegal for them to sell it directly to customers.
I cannot see any reason for this when Metavive I and II are available online?

TiredThyroid50, I don't know anything about how things work in your country (Sweden), but here in the UK, there a strict rules and regs about what can and cannot be sold as on OTC (over the counter) medicine or supplement. If the manufacturer doesn't offer it direct to the customer, then presumably there's a very good reason for them not to do so.
I just think it is strange that they sell Metavive I-IV and Adrenavive on their website, but restrict the sale of Metavive Pro. And it´s a website in another EU country shipping to EU27 so not due to national restrictions. It would seem Metavive is as expensive as prescription NDT...

Met ll x 8 is quite a heavy handed dose and I strongly recommend you don’t start out on such a high dose
I’ve been taking it for six years and along the way I’ve made some horrible mistakes with it and I can assure you, being overmedicated on it is very unpleasant, though that does depend on how overmedicated you are
If you calculated you need 8, I would suggest working up to that quantity very gradually. It might mean a period of feeling slightly undermedicated but for me at least, it didn’t feel quite so horrible as being over but if course we’re all different
I realise this post is a couple of months old and you may already have embarked on the swap
Can't help you with the Pro, but I have been on metavive 11 now for about 3 years with great success. Was previously stable on 3 grains of thai thiroyd. When that was discontinued I tried a good few things with no success, including thyro "in"active!!
Initially I overmedicated on metavive11 as I swapped out the three grains of thiroyd on a like for like basis with 3 capsules of metavive11. After much tweaking I am now happily stable on two capsules of metavive11. Occasionally if the weather is very hot, or if I am away on holidays not doing much I drop down to one metavive 1 capsule and one metavive 11 capsule.
So my take away was that I found the metavive11 capsule stronger than one grain of thai thiroyd. This may not help you much but has been my experience.
That´s great to know! I know Metavive was reformulated in 2020 and reviews have been mixed since, so it´s good to hear from someone who is doing fine on the new version. Thyroid-S is incredibly expensive nowadays and I would prefer to find alternatives closer to home. I have used Adrenavive (new version) and found it excellent.
