So do I what a nightmare. I never realised that having no thyroid could be such a problem, but I do now. One year on and still falling over. NDT Thyroid s changing their product has caused me a lot of trouble. I have now tried three new batches and none of them work for me anymore. Still trying not giving up, watch this space.

Oh dear, is Thyroid S now sub-potent?

Some people can end up taking quite a lot of metavive capsules daily. But it's highly individual. You have Metavive 1 and 2 (porcine) if you ending up needing a lot of capsules the 2 might be better (and more cost effective)

Also perhaps explore combining with the Thyroid S that isn't as effective for you. You may find you can get by with combining i.e., that it's just enough and therefore need less Metavive.

OK thanks that sound like a plan.

Thank you for all your hard work. The fact is that the thyroid s from 2022 ie. TA22 something changed completely I noticed it straight away. I now have three of the new catches 2022, 2022, and now 2023 they are all the same and don't work for me. Maybe they will work for someone else I hope so. What a waste of time and money.

Without the help from the people on this site we would be lost.

Brightness14, Conversion to FT3 is an individual thing. Some people convert well, others less well. So this is something you can only find out for yourself by checking your blood levels after you've been taking the product for a sensible length of time.

Yes my conversion so far has been great. As I have no thyroid and very very low FT3 and Levo taking so long to work I am now running out of options. I have packets of Cynomel but it's just to fast acting for me. The new Thyroid s does not cut very well into halves or at all in quarters it just crumble.

It crumbles?

The batch I got during covid is virtually unbreakable by hand. You have to bite or cut and it cuts smoothly. No crumbles in sight unlike levo tablets. It sounds very different texturally. Why do people keep messing with their formulas!!

I really don't know I was so well on the old lots for over seven years, why they changed the formula I don't know but I noticed it as soon as I opened the bottle. The last of the old lot was from 2021. i.e. TA21 something that changed in 2022.

Hey there again :

I tend to run behind the ' gang ' as I seem to get by dosing just once a day :

I'm post RAI thyroid ablation for Graves Disease 2005 and consider myself with no thyroid function.

I too have had a couple of different batches that haven't worked well for me but I'm now taking 22054 and " I'm back in the ' room " :

Interesting looking at Helvella's blogspot as we have some further information on some batches as to their % potency under or over that stated on the bottle :

It seems I'm now taking a dose which is slightly over the declared dose but more importantly the T3/T4 ratio is ' maintained ' at around a 1/4 - T3/T4 - which I think is the main reason why this batch works - and last time I looked there was no negative feedback on said batch.

Just out of interest - have you tried 22054 , which appears to be, an ' ok ' batch ?

Hi no I haven't tried that one. The thing is I realise that they vary in strength I have taken 2.25 and 2.5 grains and maintained the same readings over the years. It was back in 2022 that they changed the grain, it became shiny, greenish and not cuttable into quarters.

How many do you take and for how long. I am pleased that the new ones are working for you.

I wrote before about what happened to me last year I started the TA22 something batch after only 44 days I started falling about. I had a blood test and my FT3 was only 2.76 when for over seven years it was over 6. I had some of my old batch left and after only 10 days I was back to normal but they ran out.

I have lost count of the pills I have ordered in the past year, Thyroid s x 3 lots. Armour nearly £800 worth which I gave away. I have just ordered 540 of the Metavive which I will try maybe with a little Levo. Sorry for the waffle. Thanks for sharing yours.

Hi, I have an inactive thyroid and took Levo for years but didnt feel really well, just about managed to function. In 1919 decided to try Metavive, I was on Levo 100 then so I swapped 50 of Levo for 1 Metavive II and then as I felt ok, after 4 weeks, I was too impatient to wait longer, I stopped the Levo and took 2 Metavive II. From then on I felt so much better than on Levo so have continued with the same dose. If the weather is particularly cold I sometimes take and extra Metavive. I have been GF since 2012 and take extra vitamins etc to keep everything in optimal range. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing . I haven't got any of the other problems you have only no thyroid.

I think that I may need more than you are taking but it's interesting to read and I am pleased that you are doing well now.
