Has anyone tried both of these supplements as I have ran out of metavive now but read a few posts about nucleotides and figured maybe that's what's happening when I take it I have tried the porcine and I couldn't tolerate it so I went on to the bovine but still don't feel like it is the right meds anyone any advice if tried either thyro gold or forefront desiccated thyroid as I need to order something asap. Also do anyone know if WP will ever be back in stock?
Thyro gold or forefront ?: Has anyone tried both... - Thyroid UK
Thyro gold or forefront ?
I was on thyrogold for a number of years. I had a few good years until they reformulated and everything went to pot. It seems like this has been the case for many as I’ve seen a fair few posts saying the same thing.
I am unsure how potent metavive is but if you can get a private script for armour, I would say that’s your best bet .
Hi thanks for reply
Why do you think you felt different on the new thyro gold formula, do you think it's worth trying as I am gonna having to import it ?
Iam out of options now, not sure what to try Iav tried armour in the past before metavive and felt quite stable 2nd best med Iav tried but not amazing considering cost best NDT I have felt the most stable on and looked healthy on too was WP so miffed now they've stopped producing, they're doesn't seem many options
The forefront NDT sounds good but abit more expensive so not sure which is worth the risk
Iam not sure I read in a post some one had ordered it from UK so I guessed they did like thyro gold but not sure Iav Been on the website but can't figure it out
Some years ago I actually sent them an email about shipping to UK and was told “not at the moment”. It may well have changed now but I recommend you email them directly to find out.
I’m now on combi 100 mcg Levo and 20 mcg Liothyronine by private prescription. I couldn’t get on with Glandulars or NDT and was refused any help on NHS.
So, would you say that T3+T4 works better for you than NDT? Why did you not get on with NDT? I am tempted to try T3+T4 as there have been so many potency problems reported with remaining brands of NDT, plus the cost is huge...I have been hesitant because I have tended to believe statements like "NDT contains all the five hormones normally produced by the thyroid gland". This is also the argument used by doctors who prescribe NDT. Also, I am a bit worried about synthetic T3 being more potent than NDT. So, it´s always interesting to hear about people who actually do better on a synthetic combo than NDT.
I didn’t feel well on Thyroid S so gave them up. After going “private” I tried Erfa but had to add Levo to it because the ratio simply wasn’t right for me. After wasting almost a year trying to get the dosage right, I was suffering weird symptoms, unlike hypo symptoms and, reading an old Erfa PIL on the web it stated that the symptoms I was experiencing were probably due to an intolerance of the animal protein (not something that was mentioned in the PIL that came with the tablets). I was really disappointed as I was sure NDT was going to be my saviour.
I was refused T3 on the NHS, not because I didn’t need it but because of cost. I know pay for my own Liothyronine. It has been a long journey and a very expensive one as I was paying enormous sums of money for the many brands I’ve tried, only to find the various excipients caused side effects. I now have my T3 compounded in capsule form.
The added bonus with taking a combo of T4/T3 is that you can adjust the dose of either to get to your optimal dose.
True, that is not possible with NDT unless you add levo or T3 to it. But still, the ratio may be wrong for you. Great that you can also get compounded T3!
Some patients do very well on NDT alone without the addition of either T4 or T3, and even after getting the ratio right, I had increasing weird symptoms. My body didn’t like NDT.
