Has anyone imported Thyro-gold from America? If so, do you have to pay VAT or any customs charges? Also a bit concerned about signing the disclaimer form - do packages frequently go astray?
Thanks.

Technically, yes you do have to pay VAT on the whole cost inc shipping and a handling fee (£8-12). In practice, you might or you might not - no rhyme or reason to it, but budget for it.
Thanks for your quick reply Angel. Sounds as though it might be prudent to place a large order if there is a handling fee involved. Will check Treasury guidelines as I seem to remember there is no VAT payable on orders below a certain value. Can't believe that will apply in this instance though!
The rules are that if the value of the order is less than £15, then you don't get charged VAT. If value of the order is over £15, they charge VAT on the full price PLUS the P&P. And the Post Office will add around £8 as a fee for collecting the VAT. (Other carriers may charge other amounts, in some cases considerably more.)
Packages sometimes get through even when over £15, but you really have to assume you will be charged.
It is also a pain as you have to go to pay at the appropriate depot.

Just getting stung with the charges: - I bought 3 x 90 tablet bottles for the discount. Its gone up, and I paid £174, and now have a bill for £62 from Royal Mail composed of the £8 handling charge, 20% VAT (charged on anything over £135) plus 9% import duty on "dietary supplements". I'm now wondering whether just to send it back and ask them to re-send as separate bottles, which would be £60 each.
