I would like to get my 13 year old daughter tested for any thyroid problems as a precaution starting with a basic T4 & T3 test as she is finding it difficult to concentrate in class and seems more lethargic. I think Medichecks will only accept samples for patients 18 or over…? Does anyone know how I could get this test for her as our NHS doctor won’t cover this.
Thanks!

I'm not sure about who would do this, but if you can get her b12, folate ferritin and vit d tested too that will provide a really comprehensive baseline. And help you rule stuff out.
My daughter is 19 now, many of her issues we can date back to periods starting.
Paediatrics were absolutely rubbish.
We're still investigating. B12 shots started recently.
Maybe a venous blood draw if she would baulk at finger prick and having to fill vials?
Ask before you send for the BH test, if GP wont do them all then get their Thyroid Premium Gold test as it includes those key nutrients as well as the full thyroid panel.
Recently I have been thinking about when my thyroid started being ‘wonky’. One day I was a champion at sport, winning lots of cups and medals - the next I was not. I suddenly was not able to move the way I had previously. I put it down to better players than me etc etc at the time. I am watching my Granddaughter at present (13 years old) going through similar. I do not know whether to highlight it or not to my daughter. I think you are very intelligent and caring to create this baseline for your daughter for her future, or even right now if something is noticeable in her blood work.
