There have been a few reports over the years of members not getting on with Jarrows B Right but not a great number. Because of this it's not a brand I suggest, I usually suggest Thorne Basic B or one of the liposomal softgels such as Vitablossom or Pink Tribe.

Hi, sounds like a reaction to the niacin in the form of nicotinic acid... It's called a niacin flush. If you find a b complex with niacinamide only, you'll probably be ok ☺️

Nellie2016,

I agree with Flaxjax,

There are some supplements our body can not deal with, a bit like the methylated versions that make some people (myself) methylate too fast and become hot and jittery.

Vitamin B3 is known as niacin (or nicotinic acid) but like methylated versions it also comes in different forms that some people tolerate better than others. Niacinamide is a version of niacin and recommended for those who suffer niacin side effects such as heat, hives and face flushing. There are also claims niacin can exacerbate pre-existing diabetes in those predispostioned.

The better brands will provide a Vit B Complex listing B3 as 'niacinamide' (and not niacin or nicotinic acid). I've just had a quick look and can see that Moss, Vital and Life Extension do one, and there will be many others.

Nellie2016,

Most people with MTHFR genetic impairments tolerate methyl forms well but I have the impairments and don't. Therefore I'm mindful of the effects. You will only know whether you tolerate methyl folate by taking it and seeing if it makes you feel better.

~How would one know if they have a MTHFR genetic impairment?

Thank you in advance~

I guess the only sure way is to have the genetic test.

Have you considered gall bladder issues (even without pain)? My daughter-in-law constantly felt sick after eating before gall bladder issues were sorted.

I myself had sludgy bile that obviously wasn’t doing its job before hypo diagnosis. I took ox bile and digestive enzymes for about a year. Also helping the liver. I like milk thistle but it’s contraindicated for some people with thyroid issues but you could just add fresh lemon prices to warm water first thing in the morning.

I shall give the lemons ago to start with my gut isnt behaving well either what i think is good for me turns out its not when i wrnt down with auto immune thyroid probs n PA i thought take the Levo pill and my life will come back it never has

With years of low thyroid hormone comes low gut motility and insufficient gastric acid for a healthy microbiome. This allows many negative changes to take place that Levo alone may not rectify. You might need testing for bacteria infections such as SIBO or H.Pylori.

I did it’s called a Niacin flush! It was like having a allergic reaction 😯 it worried me and I took a antihistamine. I’ve changed brands to Vitablossom B complex and so far not had a flush! ♥️ but may do?
