Other than Thorne Basic B. Is there an alternative which uis just as good. I don't like Thorne much.
B complex: Other than Thorne Basic B. Is there... - Thyroid UK
B complex
I like these:
Super B-Complex - High Absorption Methylated B Vitamins with Folate, B6 & B12 - Complete Spectrum of B Vitamins, Plus Vitamin C, Sustained Release, Flush-Free Niacin, 180 Tablets, by Igennus amzn.eu/d/9DH6iWN
I also use Igennus …..but alternate with Thorne
Some members find Igennus don’t give as good results as Thorne though.
Whats the issue you are having with the Thorne product?
Because I can't swallow large capsules. I open them up and down it with lots of water. Horrible taste and I think they make feel sick and upset my bowels.
I didn’t like Thorne either. I take Igennus Super B but there is some controversy about the added Vit C. I found it raised my B12 and folate to optimal levels just taking 1 per day, although they recommend 2 per day. The only way to find out if they suit you is to try them and see. At least they’re a lot cheaper than Thorne 😊
What is the problem with the added Vit C, Gingernutt? Does it affect some people's bowels perhaps?
It has been said that taking Vit C with B12 inhibits the absorption of B12 but Igennus has said that the small amount of Vit C in their product isn’t enough to worry about. I suppose it would make a difference if you were to take a large amount of C with B that it could be a problem but the Super B complex only contains a small amount. Who knows!! BTW, I think it takes quite a large amount of Vit C to affect the bowels as some prefer to take that for constipation.
I use Pink Tribe Liposomal Vitamin B Complex Softgels - 9 Methylated B Vitamins
This product has been discussed recently. One of the issues is that it contains vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxine hydrochloride. Which might not be the best form, especially in fairly high doses - like over 500%.
helvella - Vitamers of Vitamin B6
Some time ago, I mentioned that the form in which we take vitamin B6 is important. I think I linked to this paper:
I would like to try the B-complex from Solgar and see how it works .
