So following on from my previous post I now have my test results.
TSH 1.64 Range 0.27-4.2
FT4 17.5 Range 12-22
FT 3.91 Range 3.1-6.8
T4 101 Range 59-154
TPOAb 109 Range Below 34
TgAB 420 Range Below 115
Folate 16.9 Range 8.83-45
My Creatinine is still high at 108
My eGFR is still low at 57.45 but Thriva go by your birth gender so this is gonna say it’s too low.
What I don’t get is I take B complex with 400ug of folate and that is the recommended daily amount and April last year this was 37.7
I also just remembered you should stop taking b complex before testing because the ones I take have 300ug of biotin in it, is this likely gonna make the results increase or decrease?
What can make folate go down so drastically?
If I go up to 100mcg levothyroxine will this help with my folate absorption and is it likely to help my creatinine and eGFR cause I’m getting worried?

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if taking one
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
So in high doses it’s likely to impact and give higher FT4 FT3 readings. Most likely unlikely with smaller doses.
I’m currently taking 87.5mcg levothyroxine a day weird I know but at the time felt 75mcg wasn’t enough but 100mcg was too much. So maybe going up to 100mcg a day wouldn’t be such a big jump?
This test was taken early morning probably 26 hours after the last dose.
I keep trying to go dairy and gluten free but it’s not easy. My testosterone is injection every 13 weeks so no problems there.
I guess up to 100mcg daily and test in 6 weeks and maybe vitamins will absorb better I’m not liking the idea of taking more than 400mcg folate a day as that’s the RDA.

The RDA is for someone who has a sufficient level. You have shown your result as
Folate 16.9 Range 8.83-45
The actual range for folate with Thriva is 8.83-60.8 if you look at the full extent of the green bar or go to the listed results which show result plus range like in the attached image of some Thriva results.
So taking the full range your folate level is 15.53% through range which is low, so you need to supplement bring your level up to at least half way through range then the 400mcg RDA would be appropriate.
Oh wow yeah I just went to the downloaded results. So yeah that is quite low. I’m gonna have to fine a folate by itself I think. I’m not sure how much I should take now considering I’m already taking 400ug. Maybe once I up my levothyroxine the folate will absorb more.
Considering that when people are folate deficient they're prescribed a course of 5mg folic acid, there's no problem with 600mcg or 800mcg folate for your low level.
I’ve read that it’s mainly for pregnant woman. Are there a lot of people who need this much or is there a reason other than just having hypothyroidism?
I'm not medically trained, but I believe there can be quite a few reasons for low folate, eg too few folate rich foods, too much alcohol, taking certain other medications, Crohns disease, coeliac disease, some cancers, perhaps more.
Taking extra folate supplement would only be a temporary thing.
