Previous post shows you were left extremely under medicated on only 75mcg levothyroxine

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Start back on 50mcg levothyroxine

Retest in 6-8 weeks

Always test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Going to need several further increases in dose over next 6-12 months

Guidelines on eventual dose required is Approx 1.6mcg Levo per kilo of your weight per day

So that’s at least around 125mcg

Pay attention to which brand of levothyroxine you do best on and ALWAYS get same brand

Meanwhile working on improving low B12 and folate as advised in previous post

On levothyroxine we must have OPTIMAL Vitamin levels

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you now on strictly gluten free diet

If not get coeliac test first

Testosterone should improve once on high enough dose levothyroxine

Retest again when got up to 100mcg levothyroxine daily

Not currently taking B12 but it's something I need to start doing.

Yes I've been tested for coeliac in the past and came up negative...... but have recently gone gluten free (3weeks in)

Will my testosterone really go up with levothyroxine........ I was thinking of asking my doctor about trt.

…..hypothyroidism is a potential reversible cause of low testosterone.

Get dose levothyroxine increased up until on full replacement dose …..that’s likely at least 125mcg levothyroxine per day

Going to take several months to SLOWLY increase levothyroxine

Getting dose up over 75mcg after being left under medicated can be difficult to tolerate…..you may need to increase 75mcg and 100mcg alternate days for first few weeks

Not sure if the levo will help but there is a link between testosterone and vit D. If you improve your levels it may possibly improve your testosterone.

How much vitamin D are you currently taking

Aiming for vitamin D at least over 80nmol

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But with Hashimoto’s, improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

It’s trial and error what dose we need, with thyroid issues we frequently need higher dose than average

Magnesium best taken in the afternoon or evening, but must be four hours away from levothyroxine

Sorry I can't help much as I have had no side effects, which I believe are unusual. I trust you have avoided contra-indicated foods such as grapefruit, so hope dosage adjustment may cause improvement.

Hi HashiJ

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's 9 years ago. I have had PA since my 30's. I tried Levothyroxine and reacted terribly to it. I also had a Pharmacist make more bio identical thyroxin from Pigs etc. That was slightly better but I still was reacting badly and hugely inflammatory in my gut especially. In the end I read lots of books and stopped ALL medications and removed all Gluten from my diet. I started to improve. I then adopted a Ketogenic diet( anti inflammatory) and improved to normal levels. My doctor even wrote an email congratulating me on bringing all my levels back to normal. The minute I go off the GF free Keto diet my inflammation rears up again, so I am not cured just managing it.

It's not an easy option and requires a radical life change but the results are great. The alternative is increasing dosages of Levothyroxine over the years and rising inflammation in the gut ....... maybe even stomach cancer. I felt that was the end game for me if I continued down that path.

I take high levels of Vitamin C - vitamin D (high dose calciferol ) - zinc - SELENIUM is important too. And the usual vitamin B supplements Magnesium etc.

I haven't changed anything but I am managing the inflammation in my body which is the best indicator of how inflammed my thyroid is. The gut and the thyroid share the same mucosa and therefore it will show you how your thyroid is coping. Gluten is very similar to the cells in the thyroid and if you have autoimmunity issues the immune system will attack the thyroid if gluten is present in the body.

Hope some of this helps xxx

I don't know what your symptoms are but I was vitamin b12 deficient with a similar reading and I had the symptoms of tingling and wierd dizziness among others. Despite this I was told it was fine as within normal limits. It is a large range and stands to reason that that reading can be low for some, particularly when symptomatic. I was taking metformin and a documented side effect is to deplete b12. GP told me I knew more than him 🤷. I Insisted on b12 and symptom went. Good luck.
