about 6 weeks ago my Gp practice changed my T3 Liothyronine medication from Morningside 5mcg twice a day to Roma hard capsules 5mcg twice a day. I didn’t say anything at the time but having taken the Roma capsules for 6 weeks I have noticed I’m not feeling 100% as I was before and I have got itchy skin and lesions on my skin. Nothing else has changed so I’m assuming that the change in tablets have caused this. Any advice you can give me? I am going to raise this with my Gp. If I get no joy I will consult my Endocrinologist.

Liothyronine brand change
is the brand stated on the prescription? Or is it that your pharmacy have provided a different brand?
You can have the brand stipulated on a prescription.
Definitely no harm in asking—though it can then limit your ability to get hold of T3 in the event of supply issues.
you may find you need higher dose on capsules
Eg 3 x 5mcg per day
Suggest you get thyroid and vitamin levels tested
5219 you might be allergic/ intolerant to the fillers in the Roma capsules, I cannot take Teva levo because of acacia powder. haevella has a document that lists ingredients
It will be due to cost, as the 5mcg capsules are around half the price of the 5mcg tablets.
Possibly the capsule causing is the problem? You could tip out the powder, and try that. I think it says that in the PIL.
Or request 20mcg tablets of a brand you know suits you, and split them. I know I could be ok doing that, but it depends how your body reacts to splitting, which isn't an exact science. That would be the cheapest way I think , if they're SO picky on cost.
