Any suggestions?

Am sure you will have plenty and thank you in advance for your knowledge.

I have had my phone call appointment with my GP to discuss my blood test results.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) 3.9 uIU/mL (0.35 - 4.94)

Free T3 (triiodothyronine) 3.8 pmol/L (2.4 - 6)

Free T4 (thyroxine) 11 pmol/L (9 - 19)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 798.4 IU/mL (0 - 5.61) H

Antithyroglobulin Antibodies 78.7 IU/mL (0 - 4.11) H

In my GPs opinion my TSH levels were OK and that I have post viral fatigue because I feel cold and have had an uncomfortable throat, not necessarily sore. Was I stressed? there are other reasons for fatigue. There was no answer why by antibody levels were raised. I am to wait a week and if I still feel the same then more tests could be done. Meanwhile my test results will be forwarded to the local hospital for their advice.

I have not been able to do any work, voluntary job, yoga classes, other interests recently. I have planned basic activities and then time to sleep/recover daily.

Thoughts on what I can/should do now?

Did GP agree to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin if not request these are tested. Ideally also full iron panel test for anaemia

Hi SlowDragon

No, GP wouldn’t do anything unless I was still feeling exhausted after another week. Will try next time I talk to the GP

Thanks for info on vitamin testing.

Am not currently taking vitamin supplements. Didn’t want to take anything that may alter blood test results. Is there anything you would recommend?

Nothing until you have tested first

You said in previous post you were on low Gluten diet

To be effective it needs to be absolutely strictly gluten free. Watch out for cross contamination, eg don’t share butter, jam, cutting board. Separate GF toaster etc

OK, hadn’t realised about cross contamination!

Out of interest, why does gluten free help?

only 5% Hashimoto’s patients test positive for coeliac

But a further 81% find gluten free helps or is essential

Leaky gut results in gluten inappropriately crossing from gut into bloodstream.
