Just wondering if anyone else suffers from this? I have been covered with hives for approx 3 weeks now. The antihistamine tablets aren’t doing much really. I believe this can be a symptom of Hashimotos and wondered how anyone else deals with it? Thank you

Hives
Daisydoo2, Hives are often a sign that your thyroid hormone levels aren't right for you. If you can post your most recent thyroid test results and say what thyroid medication you're taking, members can offer their thoughts.
latest results ( no T3)
TSH 3.07 miu/L (0.27-4.2)
T4 13.7 pmol/L (11-22.0)
All within range and doc says they’re fine! I’m on 75 of Levo
Thanks
Those results are far from fine.
Most people feel well when their TSH is at or just under 1. Yours is far too high at 3.07.
Your FT4 is only at 24% of its range. I would expect that to be in the upper quarter, more like 80-90%.
Can you see a different GP to insist that they raise your Levo dose?
Recommend you get full vitamin testing also.
When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
list of references al of which recommend GP's keep TSH under 2.0/2.5 in patients on levo .... plus reasons to take blood tests at 9 am before taking that days dose of levo.
i'm not saying your hives are due to not enough levo , but just so you know that if you have remaining hypothyroid symptoms on 75mcg , you can use these to ask GP for dose increase.

Have you started taking anything else since the started? I tend to get these as a reaction to medication. A few years ago I was put on Lanzaporole for high stomach acid (of course its low!) and got these. They are very itchy and uncomfortable and as you say standard antihistamine wont help much though.
Before I came onboard here last year I was popping cetirizine everyday and sometimes adding a piriton at night. Since I upped my levo and vitamins I hardly need them at all, even though I tend to get tree allergy this time of year.
Its tricky but try looking at anything you have changed in your diet or environmental factors.
I get horrible hives when I take thyroid pills containing Acacia.
Well, I'm not convinced by homoeopathy, but, when I was itching all over with hives that didn't go away I went to a homeopath and asked for the hives-specific remedy. Within hours the hives had all gone never to reappear. I cannot however be sure that it was the remedy. Best of luck
