Well, what a day yesterday. Been feeling fine for months, aware that we're in high tree pollen season so have been monitoring my symptoms-taken the odd antihistamine when the light headedness kicks in and a general 'nervy' feeling. Yesterday I was busy with craft work and was probably just over 4 hours since breakfast and suddenly started with the shakes, dizzy, palps and realised blood sugar was low-stuffed down a vegetable pasta dish followed by some fruit and the shaking eased off but the panic high anxiety stayed till 2.30a.m. Was tempted to take a diazepam but they're out of date now-rarely used them -but just ordered a small amount for emergencies.
Have taken another antihis today and will continue as tree pollen is high plus grass starting. Now being careful with meal times and will have to look at a low Histamine diet . Mistakenly been eating over ripe plums and bananas as have been fine for a while now.
I'm on Levothyroxine and have been within range for years, have read that we hypothyroid people are prone to histamine probs and blood sugar imbalance. Currently seeking a functional/herbalist medic who can help with all this as my doc reluctant to refer to Endo-and from what I gather here they're not always any good. I'm in Leeds, Yorkshire. I'm 66 and not on any other meds. Don't drink alcohol/caffeinated drinks. Diet is healthy, some sweet cake now and then. Anyone who has any experience with this or can recommend the type of nutritionist to see I would be grateful.
Ps blood glucose levels always been fine.

Low blood sugar, palps, anxiety attacks are all symptoms of hypothyroidism.
What dose of levo are you on? is it still 50mcgs which is a starter dose?
Do you have a copy of your latest blood results that you can share with us? You are legally entitled to this, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception.
It's ideal if you can always get the same brand of levo at every prescription. You can do this by getting GP to write the brand you prefer in the first line of the prescription. Many people find that different brands are not interchangeable.
When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
Thank you. It only is a problem in pollen season . TSH 1.2 last reading varies 0.78 previously. Won't do further tests and now looking at private testing. I went up to 75 MCG and had really scary palps. Taking B12 D3 Iron supplements. Increased Levo caused problems. Mainly fine outside pollen season. There is a connection with histamine and low blood sugar and panic/anxiety. Next stop: a naturopath and an allergy test. Private tests will show thyroid/vit deficiencies so we'll see but I cannot tolerate Any increase in Levo.
Yes I took a quarter extra one day and same reaction. So reactive to it but have been ok for years on 50mcg. Recent issues all relate to season allergies. Thank you for your time.
Its vital to keep an eye on vitamin levels and be supplementing. Come back with a new post once you have your private test results. Also need to see FT3.
