pregnacare while pregnant taking levothyroxine

hello

I am 7 weeks pregnant and I started to take pregnacare and I noticed it contains iodine and biotin, really small amount like 0.15 mg per 2 tables.

What is the advice while taking levothyroxine

also I take progesterone and estrógeno in the mornings, I take levothyroxine at 5:30 am so by 7:30 -8 when I take the hormones it’s a sore, then I wait 4 hours to take supplement such as folic acid.

Is that how I should be doing it?

Thanks

Very doubtful you need iodine. And over-dosing on it can be problematic. You will already be getting plenty of iodine from your food and your levo - 100 mcg levo contians about 65 mcg iodine - not because it is added but because that's what T4 is: 4 atoms of iodine to every molecule of T4. And that iodine is recycled in the body.

Suggest you take levothyroxine at bedtime

Levothyroxine should be at least 4 hours away from oestrogen and progesterone

it may be more convenient and perhaps more effective taken at bedtime

No other medication or supplements at same as Levothyroxine, leave at least 2 hour gap.

Some like iron, calcium, magnesium, HRT, omeprazole or vitamin D should be four hours away

(Time gap doesn't apply to Vitamin D mouth spray)

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

hello many thanks Slowdragon. Nobody has ever mentioned about the hormones, I asked several times at the clinic at they said just 30 min before!!!

I read in this forum before about the night time…

However I have a problem I also take in the night progesterone and estrógeno . I do this about 7:30 pm

If I go to bed 10 pm would that work?

Also in the night at what time should I take my dinner? How long needs to pass for me to have an empty stomach?

For the first dose change should I just take tonight in the night? I took this morning at 5 am

if you regularly get up for the toilet in in the night take levothyroxine in middle of night

Or set an alarm and take levothyroxine in middle of night

Yes levothyroxine is a storage hormone. It’s fine to just change to bedtime tonight

I was recommended to take Progesterone before bedtime. Also, Prometrium is a better progesterone to take. I take my methyl folate in the morning with breakfast (about 2-4 hrs after taking thyroid medication).
