Recommendation for b12 supplement -feeling overwhelmed

What are you recommendation to start vit b12 supplements?

Forum advised me to start with b12 and add B complex after a few weeks. Have I got that right?

I’m currently awaiting results from GP on antibody test for B12. I’m not sure what is being tested exactly. And because I’ve been waiting so long (following GPs advice) I’m now worried I should have started supplements in December 22 and I’m doing it all wrong and have done irreparable neurological damage. Yeah… so in that brain-state really. So, would love to hear your thoughts and once I’ve got a plan I hope that will calm me down a bit.

No, it's 10-14 days.

Do you have signs/symptoms of B12 deficiency:

Did GP test for B12 deficiency and Pernicious Anaemia? If you have PA you should have B12 injections.

yes, checklist takes me to the right box of severe B12.

This did not seem to concern doctor too much, but he did agree to do further B12 test, but I forgot to ask which ones specifically. He did mention an antibody test.

Which tests should I have had done for PA?

Which tests should I have had done for PA?

Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) and homocysteine I think, there may be others but maybe ask on the PA forum here on HealthUnlocked who should be able to point you in the right direction

When did your GP do the tests and have you chased them for results?

This is the post with specific advice about what to take and when that you are referring to. healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I'm sure that you are doing nothing wrong and its best to follow your GP's advice. A few more weeks won't hurt.

I did them last week Wednesday. I have chased them for results. Full blood count, vit D , and folate & B12 serum results did come back , so I was worried they had done the wrong tests, but they’ve told me more results are coming.

thanks Jaydee!

I do think this doctor is trying and he’s listening to my concerns, but it’s still very much me educating him and pushing for what I need. It would be nice if they treat it with the same seriousness as when they suspected my goitre could be cancer. And this week I just haven’t felt up to the battle of it all.

I’ll read up on the link you’ve send me and will wait a little longer.
