A Dream

once upon a time …. In a dream …. There was a Hospital where all the endocrine struggling patients could go …. Free of charge …. Stay in, get tested , bloods done for everything …. Get treated with t4 t3 or NDT and monitored …. Vitamins too …. All missing ingredients added into the mix …. Until we are in normal working levels. Where we go in like a doggy Victoria sponge and come out like a wonderful Bake off extravaganza. Fully working with clear heads and functioning like normal.

Then I woke up….

I often think/dream along similar lines. My Grandmother was committed to an asylum at one time. Later I visited it - not a good place. She was there temporarily. She came out (same old besom as went in) and I fairly recently wondered if she had hypothyroidism. I would be happy to contribute to such a place as in your dreams. Be ‘reconditioned’, help with chores, get my confidence back in a positive, healing atmosphere. If I won the lottery - but then I would have to organise buying a ticket every week!

You have reminded me of my aunt who had ECT - we never really saw her again - I was a teenager then and no one wanted ' to talk ' about her or ' it ' !!

I had an uncle who I was told was in a mental hospital and regularly got told that I didn't want to go there - did I !!!!

Interesting times ?

awww that’s heartbreaking …. And a truth too … so many with PA and thyroid problems were shut away and lost … so heartbreaking … so wrong … and the families that had to sit by and watch them never come home …

Maybe in the future the world will look back at these terrible times knowing it could have and should have been different (( xx

Thank God for this group

so hard to hear these stories that we might even like you have a glimpse into our own family … suffering. I too think maybe they were connected to thyroid/pernicious anaemia and other things unbalanced. So much progress from then to now but sadly the doctors on the front line still aren’t reading off our pages. We are all invested emotionally, those of us who are struggling with mis-management and poor diagnostics and monitoring. I am thankful everyday for this site. The lottery win …. Yes how we could change things.

Thanks arTistapple we can dream

Unfortunately - we are now in a 'modern' climate and that means we have to have a connection to the internet. It doesn't matter if you've never typed before but 'learn as we go along' using one finger. Eventually, probably able to type 100 words a minutes !!!

We no longer seem to have a discussion with a doctor regarding ill- health as we have to do it ourselves.. The few meetings I've had with one GP I had to tell him 'sorry doctor that's untrue'.

The other GP is a saint as he 'treats' people's conditions and has resolved a couple of my complaints quickly.

Many moons ago I read about a vet who treated a ‘highly strung dog’ by knocking it out for a few days. A sort of fully serviced bed sedation. I remember thinking I could be doing with that. This was pre diagnosis. I am also aware that some addiction treatment for humans is similar. I was reminded of this combination of thoughts recently. One, I seem to have a condition similar to vets diagnoses of dogs and horses suffering from hypothyroidism. The research papers imply successful treatment. It’s no joke that vets seem to have a better understanding (and respect) for thyroid issues. Anyway I have also read some comments on the forum where (my words and my understanding) a large dose of say T3 can be given to make sure all T3 receptors can be flooded at the same time - possibly overcoming titration problems. No doubt in only some cases. I know for sure I could not do this without supervision. It’s back to your dream.

it would be great if we had somewhere safe to have these trials …. Maybe we should go to vets…. That’s not stretching the realm of possibility for me if they were better …. I would give it a go ! Back to the dream
