Advice on starting T3. A couple of questions

T4 21.3 (12-22)

T3 4.6 (3.1-6.8)

I feel that shows I am not converting well.

I have T3 in 25mcg pills that I can quarter.

I am on 125mcg Thyroxine.

Do I just start T3 at 6.25 per day?

Do I take it on an empty stomach and before coffee like Thyroxine?

Same time as Thyroxine or different (I recently started taking Thyroxine whenever I wake in the night for the loo).

Hypo as your ft4 is at the top of range I would reduce levo first either by 12.5mcg or 25mcg per day. Wait 1 week on reduced dose to allow levels to drop.

Add in a quarter tablet liothyronine T3. Wait 1 week. If all ok add in a second quarter either as a second dose or added to the original dose. I take mine on waking and bedtime.

You can stop there wait 8 weeks do bloods and see results. Or you keep adding in quarter table every 2 weeks until you reach a daily total dose of 1 tablet. Then you stop wait 8 weeks and do bloods.

I only need 7.5mcg of lio t3 added to my dose of levo so it is possible to manage on a small added dose or doses.

It can be taken at the same time as levo. Generally we treat lio T3 the same way as we do levo re vitamins , food and drink. It is important with lio t3 however to take the same dose each day.
