Nope thats new to me, just heard about it in fingers and toes.

There was a thread about pseudo gout a whileback, that was fascinating healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

There are lots of links between gout and hypothyroidism... linking kindney function and urate levels (google search will tell you more).

Hope you get more replies 🌱

This is a page about pseudogout (from the USA) which expressly mentions underactive thyroid and overactive parathyroid.

Important to be sure of diagnosis.

Gout is a form of arthritis so is not limited to where it may strike. I suffered for years with my left ankle, dry swollen and painful. I had a couple of bouts of gout in my big toe on my right foot and that felt very different to my ankle. However I was referred to rheumatology eventually with my problem ankle and was diagnosed wth gout. I have been on Allopurinol for years and still have regular blood tests. They assure me the Allopurinol is almost certainly for life.

Hope you soon feel loads better.

My sister swears by Montmoroncey cherry supplements to combat gout symptoms. This may be worth a trial to see if it alleviates any of your symptoms les121.

I have something like Gout flares in my knees and it is so paiful I can hardly walk, I have found it comes on if I am hypothyroid again and improves when balanced on right levels but I also read about Celery seed , it contains compounds that may be beneficial in the treatment of gout. Luteolin may reduce uric acid levels and reduce inflammatory nitric oxide production.

Worth a try me thinks.
