Private NDT Endos Armour etc

Hi all,

Please would someone private msg me a list of private endos who will prescribe NDT. I have mostly in range markers but only just in range but so many symptoms of hypothyroidism:

Dry skin

Thinning eyebrows

Cold extremities/intolerance

Chills

Huge fatigue

Gut issues/food intolerances

Vitiligo

dark circles under eyes

depression

Etc etc

Been going on for years and GPS have been no help and have completely lost zest for life.

NDT is an unusual hormone to be starting out with and quite expensive these days.

Thanks for reply, all my vitamin levels are good. I have done two thyroid tests over past few years, TSH is always fine but my T3 and T4 never that good:

2018 TEST

TSH 0.76 microUI/mL

T4 48 nmol/L

FT4 14.2 pmol/L

FT3 3.1 pmol/L

RATIO 4.6

REVERSE T3 0.24 nmol/L

NO ANTIBODIES

2020 TEST

TSH 2.00 mIU/L

T4 77 nmol/L

FT4 15.90 pmol/L

T3 0.92 nmol/L

FT3 2.56 pmol/L

I still have all symptoms of hypothyroidism, could it be pituitary problems maybe?

Hard to say anything without lab ranges as they vary from lab to lab. Can you edit and add them please?

Gosh they are really low numbers for both FT4 and FT3. Most GP's aren't really that aware of secondary hypothyroidism as their focus is so much on TSH which of course for you is normal.

I don't have recent experience of NDT although I did take it many years ago for a while. Why are you specifically asking for that, as usually people see if they can find wellness with Levo alone which is much easier and a whole lot cheaper than NDT. Only once someone has found out they don't convert very well which is around 15% of hypo people do they then start looing at adding some T3 or think about NDT.

As hypo people we get low stomach acid and so don't absorb our vitamins well. Have you had key vitamins tested lately - ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

Presumably you are NOT on levothyroxine?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies 

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis. 

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis 

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test 

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Thank you for all the info, appreciated. Where is the £29 test from? Cheapest I found was Medichecks for £45 with a 10% discount?

All my vitamin levels are fine, tested quite a few times and all fine.
