can’t give advice anymore except to find the right Doctor.,

I can’t seem to get anything back into balance, my counts are all out and it doesn’t seem to be a big concern as it’s “not Covid”! Seems that’s all that interests anyone right now!

I got one call saying my medicine should be adjusted, huh, he sent in a new prescription for 125 mg from 100mg , he asked if I had been sick, my T3 count was 78 should be between 4.5- 18?

Nothing about anything else, he is going away for 3 months back to India so he’d send in a new prescription and a requisition for an X-ray. So I got them, did the X-ray and now…

I am told by the walk-in Doctor I had to see that the result of the X-ray shows I have a growth on the remaining half of my thyroid, it is 1.1x 1.5 so it’s small so it is suggested I wait a year to see if it grows?

I had thyroid cancer; removed left side in 2017 but hey, I’m now on 125 mg thyroxine as he suggested.

I do take B12 and D3 daily, I believe I should be on folic acid as my hair is all falling out and not growing, my nails are all broken and my skin is grey, ( I don’t look healthy at all and I keep gaining weight despite not eating anywhere close to what I used to.

I am on “up to 2 Oxycocet” pain killers daily and I get pain block injections bi weekly as my legs, especially my knees are extremely swollen as is my left hip, they did one MRI of my back and apparently there is a large bulging disk so now no one seems to know, does my hip or knee need replaced or is this all because of my bulging disc in my back.

I feel as though no one really understands what is going on so they fluff me off !

I’ve aged drastically in 3 years, I look 10 or more years older! I wish I could give advice to someone else as was suggested but now, I am so frustrated as I can’t get answers at all and everything that used to work isn’t!

How do you get someone to care enough to start over and do whatever tests are necessary to get properly diagnosed?

Good luck to everyone, I wish you all better health in 2023.

Hello Scotlass and welcome to the forum :

Well - no one will care as much as you do so why not organise your own full thyroid blood panel and post the results and ranges back up on here for considered opinion ?

It's what I had to do, as do many forum members, and why we then come back on, trying to pay/give back as this is a patient to patient forum and only as good as any one, or all of us, and I feel indebted for the help I received back in 2015/16.

If you go into Thyroid UK - thyroiduk.org - this is the charity who support this forum and where, other than reading the forum questions and answers, you can read around all things thyroid as well as learn of the private companies who can run the necessary blood tests for you, with some offering a nurse home visit to draw your blood so there is a little stress as possible involved and it is where we all need to start off, in getting better thyroid treatment and reclaiming our health and well being.

In the first instance we really do need to read and explain around 10 different blood test analysis to you and you need to arrange a ' full thyroid panel ' to include a TSH, Free T3, Free T4, antibodies, inflammation and ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D blood draw.

Arrange an early as possible blood test, fast overnight just taking in water and do not take your T4 medication until after the blood draw.

It will be OK - T4 - Levothyroxine is a storage hormone - do not worry - you will be fine.

If taking any supplements refrain from taking these for around a week before the blood test as we need to see exactly what you body is holding onto - rather than measure yesterdays supplements !!

When the readings are back just start a new post with all the results and ranges and you will be talked through in simply terms what it all means and your next best steps back to better health.

Oh my goodness, what a run around you are getting, I'm so very sorry to hear about your health problems and no help. You are right, covid seems to be the only thing they are interested in. Maybe write a letter to the practice manager at your surgery stating your concerns and requesting action? Don't give up. I'm not much help to you but I just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and sending big hugs. Better health for 2023 to you.

Hi, I do totally understand your frustrations. When you have more than one medical issue the GPs just dont seem to listen and you almost have to tell them what you think should be done. All I know is that you have to be persistent with the GPs. I was and I finally got an increase in my levo, which I am trialling for 3 months. I am 2.5 months in and I can already see my hair is growing back, my nails are no longer brittle, I am sleeping much better and my lethargy has almost gone. I feel positive for this change, I am just hoping that it continues. I do still have some issues with my throat and a cough which are being looked into. But my advice would be to keep going back to GP, and also keep a diary of how you are feeling once you start to make changes. Sometimes you cant see the changes as they can be small at first, but writing a diary can show these changes more clearly. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you are get some useful help very soon.
