I have been reading a few articles on the link between sufficient daily protein and thyroid function and basic good health in terms of not getting cold hand etc
For me, the most direct impact relates to the amount of sleep I get.
I wonder if others here target a specific amount of protein each day
Also accept some may be on vegan diets - but the question is posed more for those using eggs and fish and meat
Thanks

I try to have a minimum of 50g of protein a day, since I’ve had thyroid problems I’ve noticed significant muscle loss. I’m hoping to address and possibly reverse this by doing some exercise with weights. I did read somewhere that we need more protein as we age ?
I go to the gym regularly and do a lot of strength training so I have quite high protein requirements. I aim for at least 100g per day, preferably closer to 150g.
I eat protein at every meal. With having issues with low blood sugar I find if I don't eat enough protein I can often get the shakes and feel unwell with a drop in blood sugar. Eating protein keeps me satiated and also helps me to avoid overeating.
Being a vegan for many years I'm dairy free, soya free and will eventually be gluten free. My favourite proteins are chickpeas, lentils, other beans, nuts, mainly cashews. Sunflower, chia and pumpkin seeds, spinach and broccoli. Trying to eat oats again but porridge seems to cause me heartburn.
Not sure how much protein I eat but I don't go over the top but seem to consume what I need to. Though you've got me thinking and I may try to work out what amounts I do eat on a typical day.
It feels alien to me as I was always a slim body shape for many years but am now overweight, age 50+ post menopause and hypothyroid. Not really such a great combination!
I realise your post was geared towards meat and egg eaters but I wanted to contribute.
thanks Hedgeree that’s some really helpful thoughts. I have gone back to my vegan protein powder to add to the morning smoothie and this seems to stabilise blood sugar better than just fruit/veg smoothie.
we ate lentils last night and I think I can benefit from adding these types of foods more often.
