hi everyone. I am off to New York in a few days and wondered how to manage my thyroid meds with the time difference I take my levothyroxine at 5 am every day and New york is eight hours behind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends how sensitive you are but personally, I'd just carry on taking it as usual. So 5am NY time.

Thankyou so much for your reply. I was thinking the same but just wanted to make sure. I seem to get ill on holidays so didnt want that happening again.

I always get ill on holidays! I think it's the stress of travelling. I seem to need 3 or 4 days to recover. Which leaves me 3 or 4 days to actually enjoy🤦🏻‍♀️

You are the first person I have spoken to that also gets ill on holiday. Makes you wonder if it’s worth it sometimes doesn’t it

I've often pondered this. Travelling takes so much out of me, even if its just a few hours in the car.

I've been toying with just giving up on it entirely... OR only going for 2 weeks at a time!

I agree. I wonder why it effects us like it does.

My current working theory is that the stress of organising, planning, packing, sorting takes me to the edge and then the stress of airports, recycled air, crappy food, sensory overwhelm (noise and lights) etc plus then the business of the place we're visiting... all just comes together to tip me over the edge!

I live in the US but the last time I flew to NY I got sick the second day!! None of my friends did. It wasn't a cold just "mysterious" illness. Luckily, I was able to tour the Cloisters museum before falling ill. I had to lay in bed while my friends went out and the flight home was miserable. Also, happened to me when I flew to Paris, France.
