Hello any views on my results please Started t3 in April 5mc twice a day with 75mc levothyroxine

Results yesterday didn't take levothyroxine that day t3 taken previous afternoon

Ferritin 72 (13_150)

Vit B12 600 (197_771)

Serum folate 8.2 (2.9_26.8)

Free t4 14.2 (12.0_22.0)

TSH 0.48 (0.27_4.20)

Wouldn't do t3!

I weigh just over 10 stone lost just under a stone since starting t3 although I don't think it has made much difference to other symptoms

Have high blood pressure taking ramapril 10 mc daily asked dr if this was because of thyroid as previously on levothyroxine only my tsh was never under 3.8 but gp said nothing to do with thyroid

BP reading swings from 133/83 up to 168/106

Also cholesterol test yesterday

Cholesterol 5.2 (2.5_5.0)

HDL cholesterol 1.6 (1.2_1.7)

LDL cholesterol 3.1 (0_3.5)

Don't want to start statins could my thyroid have something to do with results

Lastly been asking gp for hrt for nearly a year now she said no because of blood pressure

Appreciate any thoughts/ advice

It is essential to test FT3 when taking T3 because it's this test that tells you if you are overmedicated. Testing TSH is of no use because when taking T3 it's going to be low, that's just what happens when taking T3. The doctor who prescribes your T3 should know this and should ensure that FT3 is requested and that the lab actually does it.

Timing of last doses before test to give the mlst accurate results :

Levo - 24 hours

T3 - 8-12 hours

Vitamins OK but folate could be better as it's recommended to be at least half way through range.

Vit D should be tested .

High cholesterol is likely to be due to undermedication but you wont know unless FT3 is tested. FT4 might be OK for you but you might need it higher, many of us on combo thyroid meds need it higher.

BP is looking on the high side. Are you doing readings at home with a cuff monitor? I'm having to do readings for my GP at the moment and have been told to do it as follows:

1) Always at the same time of day, twice a day - morning and evening .

2) Sit and relax for 10 minutes before doing readings .

3) Discard first reading.

4) Take 3 more readings and take the average of these.

Do you leave at least 2 hours between thyroid meds and any other medication and supplements ?

High blood pressure can be a hypo symptom. But, you won't know if you're still hypo without testing the FT3.
