assuming you take thyroid hormone replacement.... it's worth considering if your thyroid hormone dose has become a bit too high for your needs.... that turned out to be the cause of bladder incontinence problems for me post menopause.. also had a constant feeling of tension in the bladder ,felt a bit like having cystitis but without the burning pain......bladder problems went away with slight dose reduction.

I would speak to a GP without delay. Why do you think it must be thyroid related?

hi. After looking it up online it does seem to be correlated often with thyroid.

It may be, or could be you need HRT or some of the other suggestions people have made. But please can I urge anyone who has sudden changes to urinary function to see a GP.

HRT may help too. Good luck.

Sounds like low estrogen are you on hrt? It's a juggle to get things back in balance

Also this is how my dairy intolerance made itself known... 🙄

I recommend bioidentical hormone replacement therapy if you're not already on a protocol. A good Functional Medicine or Integrative Medicine doctor can help you with that. Hormonal changes majorly affect the bladder, urethra, etc. I had a hysterectomy in May, and it wasn't three weeks until I started experiencing bladder issues. As we worked to get my hormones balanced, it improved, but I kept having an urgent feeling in my urethra. Further fine tuning of BHRT relieved it completely.

I found that urgent feeling was dairy related... you can get body identical from your GP if you ask for it 😉

be aware there is a BIG difference between bio identical and body identical. As you say, a GP will prescribe body identical which will have undergone robust clinical trials.

See Balance website for details.

low B12 can contribute to urinary incontinence

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

Incontinence, specifically the lack of the ability of the bladder to hold urine, is one of the major symptoms of vitamin B deficiency. When incontinence occurs, you can experience a leakage of urine. Although it can be caused by many things, incontinence that resolves when vitamin B is increased can be attributed to a vitamin B deficiency.

I’ve been having the same problem but my FT3 is comfortably in range (I take T3 only ) However I’m also having really high cortisol symptoms and I’m wondering if there’s a connection there

the responses here have alerted me that it can be low estrogen or low B12.. take a read thru the posted replies 👆

I had lots of issues with my bladder etc for about 10 years, had lots of tests and tablets to help. I then had hrt due to heavy bleeding etc, bladder issues went away. I had the mirena coil and estrogen patches, occasionally I have a bit of a dribble but nothing else, it’s been a game changer.

I had the same problem. It was because of low Magnesium. Magnesium oil spray didn't help me at all, only oral magnesium before bedtime.

Do you still do your pelvic floor exercises? I was a bit lazy for a while and paid the price - lifting a sheep and woosh! Following a chat with the clinic and being assured if I stuck to doing the exercises at least 3 times a day, 10 "pulls"a time and things would get better after around 3 months. They did. No sheep is safe now...

I completely agree! I invested in a Kegel to do the job and only have to use it occasionally now so I recommend them. It was quicker than 3 months too.
