I can’t say I know why and I would advice you go to see your doctor. However I have always had good bladder control until I started to experience problems with my thyroid.

My understanding is that the smooth muscle can be effected and one of those areas of smooth muscle is the urethra, that’s the tube from your bladder. I found you this...

The combination of detrusor contraction and urethral sphincter relaxation leads to urination. The detrusor muscle is under control from the autonomic system and is composed of smooth muscle.

So it could be the reason your having problems perhaps. Mind has improved since my T3 hormone is optimum.

Maybe someone else will answer to explain what you can do to improve things

I wish you all the best and I’m sure it can be at least improved🌺

Hi pippapotts

As this is a thyroid forum and you haven't mentioned that you have a thyroid problem in your post or your profile, I wonder if you've ended up on the wrong forum.

There is one for bladder health here healthunlocked.com/bladderh...

Also get your Vitamin B12 tested. Low B12 and incontinence may be linked

Common when hypo to have low B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D

They need regular testing

Can be low oestrogen which causes loss of fat tissue round the urethra and therefore leaks, or a result of poor muscle control from being hypo. See GP - you'll probably get incontinence pads. I got a machine that delivers electric shocks to your "bits" through an internal probe - sounds scary but is quite comfortable to use. Worked wonders.

Neurotrac Pelvitone. had it along time now so don't know if that model is still available. Uses 9 volt batteries. Got it online after doing some research - no VAT as it is a registered medical device for women with stress incontinence. veritymedical.co.uk/product...

Do you have to do exercise as well with them ?

The electric shocks are the exercise - there are different programmes and an instruction booklet.

If you do have a thyroid problem and have increase your medication that could happen in the few days after as your body gets rid of the bloating.
