hello everyone,

Could you kindly let me know what you think of my latest blood test?

I’m going to Greece in November and hopefully will be able to buy some T3.

I’ m currently taking 100 levo. And I don’t feel good.( tired, hair loss, muscle pain, bones pain….).

TSH: 0.758mUI/L 0.35 to 4.94

T4:13.13pmol/L 9.00 to 19.08

T3:4.19pmol/L 2.43 to 6.02

ferrtin: 67ng/ mL 12 to 150

Vit B12: 711pmol/L 138 to 652

Folate: 12.91nmol/l 7.02 to 46.45

Vit D: 35ng/mL 30 to 60

I’m ready to self medicate due to lack of support, understanding of my endo or GP in France. They didn’t want to increase my levo, according to them, my results are normal. I’ ve increased my levo since July from 88/100 alternate days to 100 daily.

I don’t know if I should increase my levo or try T3 or increase both….I will be grateful for any help/ advise.

Thank you.

It isn't T3 that you need. Your conversion of T4 to T3 is excellent.

FT4: 13.13pmol/L 9.00 to 19.08 = 42.66% through range

FT3: 4.19pmol/L 2.43 to 6.02 = 49.03% through range

It's more Levo that you need so it would be better for you to buy some Levo and increase that with the aim of getting FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges, around 70% might be the place to aim for then see how you feel.

Ferritin, folate and Vit D could all do with improving.

The optimal ferritin level for thyroid function is said to be 90-110ug/L, folate is recommended to be at least half way through range and Vit D is recommended to be 40-60ng/ml according to the Vit D Council, Vit D Society and Grassroots Health, with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health recommending at least 50ng/ml.

Thank you for your advice. At least, my conversion is good, it’s positive.😀

I’ m working on my supplements… I take iron supp, vitamin D., obviously not enough. It’ s the first time that I tested folate.

This forum has been great, so much information and help. It makes a big difference in order to understand what I had.

I will buy some levo in Greece, I think Merck do 112 levo… and see how it goes.

Or, you could just change your GP and/or endo. That is so easy to do in France. There are some doctors that understand thyroid better than yours appear to. :)

thanks.😀 I live in Normandy and it took 3 years to find a GP. All the others didn’t want new patients. I may have to go to Paris to find a good endo but I have to admit that I was so fed up with the different endo (3 in total) that I gave up looking fo a new one. They were only concern about the TSH. Do you know some good endo in France?’ I could private if need be.. Thanks.

Ah, that is the problem in France right now! A shortage of doctors. Same where I live in the Oise. But, at least in Paris you'd have plenty of choice of endos. I don't know any personally - I did know one who wasn't too bad but that was years ago and he no-longer seems to be around. He worked at the American Hospital in Paris, and the still seem to have a largish endo team, so that might be a good place to start. :)

Thank you. We are in « desert medical »,not enough doctors, dentists… I need to do some research… As you mentioned, the American Hospital in Paris might be a good place to start. 😀.

Hi Nath27,

You describe having muscle and joint pain and tiredness. I know from personal experience how unwell I felt when my vitamin D was low. My arms were very weak, I could barely lift them. The muscle pains in my forearms were awful and I was very tired.

It would be an idea to try to raise your vitamin D levels. SeasideSusie has suggested that in her reply to your post.

Best wishes.

hi and thanks. I will do, I was surprised about my result. I take once a month 50,000U.I vit D, prescribed by my gynaecologist. I will top up with daily drops. I just want to feel better.

So as Seasidesusie mentioned, I should increase my levo.’. What increase ? I think I can get 112 or 125 in Greece. Any advice?

Another question, how do you increase folate…on its own or B vit combo? Please let me know.

Thanks
