Help with results please!

Hi all, have been off carbimazole for 3 months, latest results are:

TSH < 0.03 ( 0.35-5.5)

Free T4 22.8 ( 10.5-21.0)

Free T3 7.5 ( 3.5-6.5)

I haven’t spoken to the endo team yet but they are notoriously hard to get hold of, I have started back on 5mg carbimazole but am thinking should I go a little higher? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

5mcg carbi was my daily maintenance dose. It kept my ft4 and ft3 in range. Whenever I stopped the 5mcg I went hyper again. All I'm saying is 5mcg daily might be all you need.

I was on 5mg for over a year before endo wanted me to stop and I felt great. My ft 4 was going a little low towards the end but endo insisted I stop. I wish I had stuck to my guns and just reduced to 2.5 mg and waited to see what happened. Are you still taking carbimazole and if so for how long and are you ok? Thanks for your reply!

No I had 3 attempts at stopping and quickly relapsed each time. My endo did not believe in permanent carbi use and I was tired of the relapses so I had radio active iodine treatment.

Hi Lalatoot,

I.am speaking to my Endo on Tuesday to.discuss the possibility of RAI - how did you get on with it?

Well I wasn't well hyper so it was good for me. However being hypo hasn't been easy to manage as I discovered that the endo and GPs didn't have a clue and kept me undermedicated for years. I have a friend who also had RAI and she is fine - just takes her levo when she remembers!!

Thank you for your reply. Did you have issues with weight gain? I'm just unsure as to what to do tbh. I was on block and replace for 10 months and then relapsed a few weeks ago aftrt being off treatment for only 8 months

Hey there again :

Well last time you tried stopping the AT drug you felt you went backwards so maybe reintroduce the Carbimazole at a very low dose and see how you go.

You may find half of a 5mcg tablet enough to contain your T3 and T4 within the ranges this time around, and continue to build up your strength vitamins and minerals.
