Advice on my results since T3

Hello,

I'd love some advice on how my results are looking since taking T3. I do think i've been feeling a bit better since taking it although not back to my full energy.

Background:

Last results PRIOR to T3 (May)

TSH: 0.934 miu/L

T4: 21.8 pmol/l

T3: 4.4 pmol/L

T3 Journey: (June till now)

I was on 125mg of Levothyroxine only when I went to see this new endo. He finally perscribed me T3 and reduced my dose to 100mcgof levo and added 5mcg of Liothyronine. This was in early June. I felt a very slight improvement but still bad.

The results were as follows after a month on 5mcg of T3 and 100mg of Levothyroxine (he decreased my lecvo dose from 125 to 100 when he added t3 to my treatment)

TSH: 0.67 mIU/L (0.27-4.2)

Free Thyroxine: 16.7 pmol/L ( 12.0 - 22.0)

FREE T3: 4.9 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Vitamin D: 131 nmol/L (50-200)

Active B12: 176 pmol/L (25.1 - 165.0)

Red cell folate: 301 nmol/L (340 - 1474.7)

At my next endo appointment, I was still not feeling better and he suggested increasing my dose to 10mcg of lio and bringing my levo dose back to 125mg. The below are now my latests results while on 10mcg of Liothyronine and 125mcg of Levothyroxine)

TSH: 0.05 mIU/L (0.27-4.2)

T4: 19.7 pmol/L ( 12.0 - 22.0)

T3: 5.4 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Vitamin D: 185 nmol/L (50-200)

Active B12: 172 (25.1 - 165.0)

Folate serum: >20 ug/L >2.9

Please help interpret my latest results. Should I be worried that my TSH is so low now? (Endo said not to look at TSH anymore) And is my percentage through range for my conversion better? How are my vitamins looking? (I am supplementing with a multivitamin, a b12, folic acid at the moment)

How long did it take you to feel better on T3?

Thanks in advance,

In my opinion T3 isn’t a magic bullet / a quick fix, but once you find the right amount and leave it to settle it’s possible to feel really well on it. We’re all different, but I might prefer T3 slightly higher. But you need to let it settle down after the last change. Your t4 will be gradually dropping following the reduction. I wouldn’t worry about tsh.

I just decided to give T3 a try again. Currently on 10 mcg of T3 and I alternate Levothyroxine 112mcg 4 x week/100mcg 3 x week. This puts my FT4 at 50% on the reference range and my FT3 at 48% when taking 5mcg of T3. I take my T3 about 13 hours before that blood test so it may not be reflected in those labs and I just went up this week to 10mcg so I haven't tested on that yet. Personally, when my TSH was 0.05 on a combo of T4/T3 I was over medicated and felt it. I was sweating and had high blood pressure. However, I would say how you feel is more important than the TSH. I'm liking the 10mcg of T3 so far but only when my FT4 levels are a little lower. Maybe you could experiment with taking a lower dose of Levothyroxine 2-3 times a week with that 10mcg of T3. Perhaps 112mcg 3 days per week on Mon, Tue , Wed. Then you can slowly raise the T3. I've found that I can't raise my Levo too much more than 50% in range in combination with taking the T3. my issue is with conversion so it doesn't benefit me to have high FT4 levels anymore. I've started to feel a little better but still a long ways to go. That's my suggestion to you after my recent experience. I was about to make a post of my own when I saw yours and it was similar to my situation.

Hi when you were on 5mg of lio how were you taking that? in one dose or spilting it? My 5mg is in a capsule so I cant spilt it and I think 5 x2 a day is too much for me.

in one dose. I've been taking all the lio in 1 dose as my doctor has recommended it.

Exactly what multivitamin are you taking

Multivitamins are never recommended on here.

Instead a good quality vitamin B complex with folate in (Not just folic acid)

Remember to stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before all blood tests

I would try splitting the T3 as 2 x 5mcg doses. 2nd dose mid-late afternoon

Retest after 6-8 weeks

Last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Last 5mcg dose T3 approx 8-12 hours before test

only make one change at a time

You might after next test results, also consider splitting levothyroxine as half dose waking and half dose at bedtime
