So I’ve noted recently, more people are coming out with experiences of having access to records removed, things disappearing etc. My own account is below but I’m wondering if there is a general trend towards arse covering in the medical profession by denying access to one’s own online records.
As I have stated in my profile and in a fair few posts, my patient access has been more doctored than I am. This is why I keep chipping in to advise to NOT rely on patient access when forum members are routinely advising this as the route to one’s records. As soon as they know they have ‘stuffed up’ things disappear. they did this to me but I had taken screenshots of my patient access BEFORE I said anything so the differences were obvious 🤔
It is an abuse of the system, but if trying to cover tracks probably an obvious choice for GPs.

We don't have online access at my surgery in Wales so I've always had paper copies and this is probably the best thing to do. The law allows us access to our results but I don't know if there is any reason why a patient could be denied a paper copy if online access is available.
So far this has not been refused. I would haul them over hot coals if they did, but definitely things have been selectively removed from my patient access or at the very least selectively obscured. The result is it looks like my actual diagnosis came later and earlier info has been lost.
I’m aching to delve deeper into this issue and read around thyroid more, but sadly our move looks like it won’t happen and we are going to have our hands full, potentially having to reopen the business. 😱
I came across this few years ago following a medical accident. I paid £50 and asked for the full file. I got 26 pages of smear test and breast exam results, nothing from the hospital. My solicitor then asked and it took them 8 months to send the file. They denied I had ever had a scan but they forgot to take the scan results out!
