CBD Oil and hashimotos

Hi all,

I began taking CBD oil at the start of the year. When I started with it I did a bit of googling to see if it would effect my thyroid meds. A quick search suggested that as long as the doses were separated by plenty of time that it should be ok. Common sense really, like don't have meds with coffee!

I've been taking the CBD oil for anxiety, caused by the thyroid condition and unfortunately, very loud tinnitus. The CBD oil is really good stuff and does indeed help with both.

However I did see an article somewhere which suggests (no hard evidence) that we should avoid CBD oil with levothyroxine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Karl.

Did the article specify a problem with levo? Or with being hypo?

I don't take levo, I take T3 only, but I took CBD oil for a long time, with no problems. And, I agree that it is great stuff. I really don't see what the problem is if we take the oil and the hormone at least two hours away from each other. :)

PS there are a few articles about CBD oil on my profile, if you want to have a look.

Hi Greygoose. First of all, I wanted to thank you for all your knowledgeable and informative posts on this forum. You are a legend😀 Secondly, I also read your story on your profile with great interest. I also have a very complicated health history and present, but am only managing to update my profile bit by bit when energy and time allow. Age 50. In perimenopause. Diagnoses: Hashimotos 2011, degenerative arthritis toes 2021, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), ME/ CFS and Fibromyalgia in 2022. I am currently on Armour 3 3/4 grains daily, ( did not do well at all on T4 only), LDN and Nalcrom ( Mast Cell stabilizer for digestive system - lowers histamine reactions to food). Also on DHEA, Hydrocortisone, Progesterone, Estriol and Estradiol low dose transdermal creams. Just a quick summary as might help with your reply. What did you find CBD oil helpful for when you took it? Also, you mention articles in your profile on CBD but not sure where to find these? Had a look already.

Thanks, SwissGirl

I just felt over-all better with CDB oil. But, it was absolutely brilliant for my ataxia. Instead of wobbling around with a walking stick, and crawling up and down stairs, I was walking tall without a stick, and bounding up the stair in record time (for me! lol) I really miss it, but at the moment, not only can I not afford it, but I don't have a supplier I trust anymore.

No, none of your background makes any difference to what I've already said. I would just wholeheartedly recommend it. :)

The articles I've posted are on the right-hand side. Just scroll down until you find articles on CBD. I think there are two of them.

Sorry you're not able to get something that's been so effective for you. In the past you've mentioned a particular UK supplier, IIRC. Do you no longer trust them?

They will no-longer ship to France. :'(

I'm interested! I don't have anxiety but I suspect my cortisol is trigger-happy and i do get stressed easily. Any recommendations? Do you buy it in a pharmacy?

hi Karol’s,

I was curious how you got on with the CBD oil? I would like to try it too but was also concerned about my Levo medication.

Hi folks, yes I use CBD oil for anxiety and tinnitus. It doesn’t lessen tinnitus but it does certainly calm the nervous system. I haven’t found it affects my levothyroxine. Common sense says don’t take it near the time of meds. I use the CBD oil as and when I need. It’s good stuff. I also have an excellent, quality supplier, here: cbdology.eu/shop/cbd-oil/
