First Results - Post Pregnancy

It’s been just over 4 weeks since I delivered twins and I’ve quite amazingly and rapidly already lost 20 kg and heading back to pre pregnancy weight within 4 weeks of delivery. I’m delighted.

Below are the first results post pregnancy; prior to and throughout pregnancy I remained on Levo 162.5mcg. I actually never needed to increase the dose like others are told to do so. I did have a hashi hyper swing a few months into pregnancy. And also I believe I hit my sweet spot during pregnancy, it was as if I never had a thyroid issue.

There was some mention by greygoose of looking at possibilities of adding T3 post pregnancy. Now need to get back to that sweet spot again. Symptom wise, just over the last week or so, I’ve been feeling a little odd, like I know the thyroid isn’t where it needs to be; some palpitations, difficulty concentrating, joint pains etc.

Advice greatly appreciated.

Results 22 June 2022- Levo 162.5 mcg

TSH 0.02 (0.27-4.2)

FT3 3.3 (2.00-4.4) pg/mL

FT4 2.1 (1-1.6) ng/dL

FT3 : 54 % through range

FT4 : 183 %through range

All tests, early morning, fasting. Last dose Levo 24 hours prior. No biotin, 5 days prior.

Those results and your symptoms suggest it might be wise to try a slight reduction in levo now ,since you fT4 is way over the top ...... perhaps try reducing to 150mcg ?

I wouldn't make a big change in dose based just on these first results though, because your T4/T3/ TSH levels will probably wobble around for a few months after pregnancy while your system adapts again to a 'non pregnant' state .

I will drop go 150mcg and see how it settles. Oh my goodness, hormones all over the place, yes will take time. Prior to during and till now on 162.5 mcg; so the logic of say 1.6 mcg per kg isn’t logical either! Thank you tattybogle.
