Would anyone here call these numbers "Euthyroid"?

According to a recent visit to see endocrinologist I have now received a letter along with TFT results in which he states: She does appear euthyroid.

Really!!!

Here are the numbers:

TSH. 0.13. 0.27 - 4.20

FT4. 19.2. 12.0 - 22.0

That is it.

First time ever not to have had FT3 tested.

Blood was taken 3 o clock afternoon.

Had eaten food etc

Cannot recall if i took my daily dose of levothyroxine and NDT that morning or the previous morning. Don't suppose it matters really considering the other factors: no ft3 reading, time of blood test etc

Would anyone here with more knowledge than me, claim: THE NUMBERS APPEAR TO SUGGEST SHE IS EUTHYROID?

Obviously you will need to get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done yourself

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am

Last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Day before test split NDT into 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day and last dose NDT approx 8-12 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Thank you SlowDragon such a helpful reply. Have got blood forms off GP for Thyroid blood test which includes FT3. Am getting this done 8 30am Tuesday morning. Usually I take levo and small dose of NDT every morning. As of tomorrow, leading up to Tuesday, I will take only levo in the morning and the small dose of NDT late afternoon so that I comply with 8 to 12 hour dose requirement you suggested in prep for blood draw.My vitD levels are optimal, not sure about the rest but my diet of leafy green veg, kale, spinach, broccoli, liver, sprouts, salmon, sea bass etc should have improved my overall vitamin levels. Will get them checked out soon.

Don't know why endocrinologist did not check my ft3. Having no thyroid, I have always had ft3 checked.

Thanks a million. Have a wonderful evening

NHS labs frequently just refuse to test Ft3 even if requested

Monitor My Health Is cheapest if you still don’t get Ft3

Medical definition of euthyroid:

Euthyroid: The state of having normal thyroid gland function. As opposed to hyperthyroid (overactive thyroid) or hypothyroid (underactive thyroid).

Those of us with hypothyroidism cannot, by that definition, be described as euthyroid.

However, it tends to be used to just mean that numbers are within range so everything is classed as "normal".

Your TSH is below range so can't be "normal"; however, if test was done at 9am TSH would be higher and may have been in range.

Your FT4 is 72% through range so that is classed "normal", (whether it's optimal for you is another matter).
