Just received my advanced Thyroid test from medichecks and just noticed this in the email, is there a reason they ask you to do this ?

Also not sure if I should fill in the health profile they request? I do take but should I take T3 as per instructions on here ?

I haven't used Medichecks for a thyroid test for some time so I've not seen these instructions before.

All they are saying is do the test before taking T3. We always say last dose of Levo 24 hours before test and last dose of T3 8-12 hours before test (splitting dose day before and adjusting time if necessary) and this timing should give as accurate as possible measure of your normal circulating hormone.

As for B12, if you want to know what your B12 supplement is achieving then continue taking it up to and including the day before the test. If you want to know how much B12 you are holding on to then you leave it off for 4-5 months before testing. I can't see what leaving it off for 2 weeks can achieve.

As for biotin, if it's in a B Complex and the amount is about 400mcg then it's fine to leave off for probably 3 days, if it's a stand alone biotin supplement or hair/nail supplement these are often high dose of around 5-10mg then it's best to leave that supplement off for 7 days.

I can't see any reason not to fill in your health profile, certainly if you are having their doctor comments it will be helpful (but we don't recommend the doctor comments, you'll get a better interpretation from the forum) so it's up to you.

Thank you yes it just seems odd why T3 and not thyroxine? yes I’m planning on doing my test as per your instructions next week. I’ve asked them to delete Drs comments and will post my results on here when I get them,

Hi, I would like to confirm Seaside Susie's advice about the Medichecks doctor's comments. I had the doctor's comments - just for the hell of it really - and was told my levothyroxine level was okay which it isn't 🙄. The advice from the forum is much, much better 😄
