I take tiromel sourced from abroad and have just noticed the packs have got may 2023 as the expiry date. Do they lose the strength after this date. Should I continue talking them?
T3 expiry date.: I take tiromel sourced from... - Thyroid UK
T3 expiry date.
I take Tiromel and have often used them beyond the expiry date...up to 2 years!
My current supply is also dated May 2023
Eventually the potency will drop but haven't experienced a problem so far.
They have been, and will be, fine....don't worry!
I have taken T3 which is further out of date than that.
The worst thing that could happen is a slight loss of potency. If that happens and becomes a problem you would have to slightly increase your dose of T3 until you've used all the out-of-date pills up.
Doctors and pharmacists would be shocked by this. But if you are paying for your supplies from abroad, then I can understand not wanting to waste them.
I find it rather doubtful that all drugs (or the majority of drugs) expire two years after manufacture, but that is what the packaging usually tells us. I think this may be a legal requirement, rather than something manufacturers have tested precisely.
