Hello. I hope it is OK to ask this here. I am booked to get my fourth covid jab -pfizer. But have recently been adjusting my meds. Introduced T3 (too much 45mcg, on top of 150 mcg of T4) and became hyper (trembling, racing heart, muscles feeling weak, lost weight rapidly). Now reduced to 5mcgs. Hyper symptoms much improved but still there. But it has only been two days since reducing the T3. All other measures (b12, D3, DHEA, ferratin) are optimum. Can anyone share their thoughts/experience of receiving covid jab whilst a little hyper? I am worried it might risk the heart. Thank you.

Taking covid Jab whilst a little hyper
Can you share your thyroid blood results Razzmatic (with ranges in brackets), so members can best advise.
Have I got this correct……2 days ago you were taking 150mcg Levothyroxine plus 45mcg Liothyronine but in the last couple of days have reduced Liothyronine to 5mcg? How long were you taking the 150/45 dose? How long did you experience ‘hyper-like’ (over- medicated) symptoms?
Unless you are in a vulnerable health group & have been advised prompt vaccination, I would rebook the 4th jab when your heart rate, pulse etc have settled.
Thanks Buddy195
I have been on 150mcg levothyroxine for over ten years. All stable. A recent bout of stress seemed to kick out my conversion . Doc added in 45 mcg T3 three weeks ago. After over medicated symptoms I reduced to 5 mcg just these past 5 days. Hyper symptoms are reducing.
Prior to adding in the T3 (three weeks ago) my results were:
TSH 0.03 uIU/ml (0.35-2.82) Suppressed, has been for over ten years. Doc is happy with that.
FT4 1.13 ng/dl (0.70-1.48)
FT3 2.56 pg/mL (1.71- 3.71)
RT3 21 mg.dL (8-25) Although this looks in range, doc said it was high
Antibodies are high currently
I am considering the jab, as I am about to move to a country where I will not be able to receive another booster until November. My last booster was January.
Thank you,
FT4 1.13 ng/dl (0.70-1.48) 55.13
FT3 2.56 pg/mL (1.71- 3.71) 42.5
I'm afraid your doctor doesn't have the slightest idea what s/he is doing. Those results do not show much in the way of poor conversion - certainly not enough to warrant a whopping great dose of 45 mcg T3! That is just rediculous. You should always start and 5 mcg and work your way up slowly. To then reduce from 45 to 5 was another horrendous error. Your poor body won't know if it's coming or going.
RT3 21 mg.dL (8-25)
Something else your doctor knows nothing about. rT3 is not your problem (an incompetant doctors is your problem!) It's not over-range, so not that high, but also it has nothing to do with your thyroid status. There are many, many reasons for high(ish) rT3 and only one of them has anything to do with thyroid, and that is when your FT4 is too high. Yours is not too high. In fact, it would have probably been better to increase your levo rather than add in all that T3.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking T3. But, there are ways and ways of adding it safely. Still at least you've got it, now, which is good and avoids future struggles. But, do be careful of this doctor. S/he knows so little about thyroid s/he could be dangerous.
Apart from the excellent thyroid advice you have been given I would still have the covid jab as a forth should give you very little in the way of side effects, maybe a sore arm for 48 hours.
