Yes this is an issue for me. I’m hypo, but have had active TED in the past (now in remission). Eye dryness and light sensitivity are still ongoing symptoms. I use preservative free drops for dryness, eg HycoSan or Hyloforte. I wear reactive lenses that darken with sunlight in the day and green tinged glasses for night driving to reduce glare. I’d definitely discuss your concerns with your optician and (if symptoms are persistent) get a referral to an ophthalmologist. Best wishes to you 🦋
I had extreme light sensitivity - had to wear sunglasses on the streetcar at night and would still be in pain - when I was b12 deficient. It disappeared for the most part with loading doses. I still have it a bit but no where near before supplementation.
I would continue to make any changes to your medication super slowly & note how you feel on a given dose. Definitely retest levels 6-8 weeks after any change. As Litatamon has suggested, do also check key thyroid vitamins (ferritin, folate, vit D in addition to B12).
Thanks Buddy195, oddly I feel I was feeling better in some ways on a lower dose, but I have changed too quickly maybe (after 4.5 weeks).I'm almost at 5 weeks on this one, had a blood test this morning, also checking ferritin folate iron shbg prolactin etc my vit d is high in range and b12 currently over range.
I had light sensitivity when I was hypo, driving at night was a big problem for me, it's much better now. 2.5 grains is still a lowish dose, I'm sure I've read that most people end up on 3 to 4 grains.
