I was writing to find out if anyone has had any experience with using eltroxin and how they’ve been able to source it.
Over the last few months I’ve developed serious intolerances to the only brand of levothyroxine (accord) my body was able to tolerate without causing my thyroid gland pain/flare up, the reason for which I’m not sure. I’ve messaged accord in regards to formulation changes but haven’t had a response from their medical team. I’m on T4/T3 combination therapy, and up until all of this drama I was actually doing pretty well.
So I am now trying to find out info about alternative T4 medications such as eltroxin. Do NHS GP’s prescribe this? And can you source it privately? If so how much would it cost roughly? Many thanks

Mercury Pharma (Advanz) make Mercury Pharma Eltroxin and Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine. They are both the same tablet. They are prescription only so your GP will be able to name them on your prescription or you can ask your pharmacy to only dispense that brand.
See page 28 of helvella 's document for information about this brand here:
Just to point out to any possible future readers that this thread is about Advanz - Mercury Pharma Eltroxin as supplied in the UK.
This is a different formulation to the Eltroxin products in, for example, Australia, which are made by Aspen. Or in India where they are GlaxoSmithKline.
Often feels they do it on purpose to confuse us all.
