Can I just ask do we think Covid effects the thyroid? I have hashimotos and take T4 and T3 (along with high dose vitamin D, B vitamins and spatone). I was super active before Covid but six weeks on from what was a mild infection I’m struggling with horrible fatigue, sore throats and aching - which I used to experience before I took T3. Is the thyroid going haywire after Covid a thing? Will organise blood tests obviously but suppose I’m hoping someone will say yes it’s normal so I can stop worrying it’s long Covid! Thanks so much

I suppose no-one really knows. It could be the after effects of Covid which may settle in time, it could be Long Covid, I think everyone will react in their own unique way.
Personally I found that my booster jab (Pfizer) actually raised my thyroid hormone levels (particularly FT3 more than FT4) whereas the 2 core jabs (AZ) didn't. I think there are a couple of other members who had a similar reaction as well but most didn't, so I really don't think there's anything typical about all this.
That's pretty well what happened to me. No problems with the Astra Zeneca doses, but then lots of high T3 type symptoms after the Pfizer booster. I reduced my T3, but must have done it too much, or for too long, as I went very hypo for a few weeks and felt dreadful! It all resolved in a few weeks though as I gradually raised my T3 back to my normal dose.
As you say, everyone is different, and Covid and the vaccines affect people very differently. But I think it's something to be aware of, just in case.
I'm still checking my results. I had my booster in November, pure fluke that I had tests done when I did but FT4 and FT3 were higher than normal 2 weeks later, 2 months later FT3 even higher and reached 100% of range so lowered dose of T3 by 1/4 of a tablet (January), retested March and had reduced to about 70% through range which is nearer my normal, FT4 was still a bit higher than normal. l have kept on the reduced dose of T3 and will retest in a couple of weeks to see how things ar .
Interesting. I got hyperkind of symptoms after covid infection. Palps mainly. I thought it was due my low carb diet but have to think this thru again. I lowered my t3 for few days but then got palps bc of too small dose🤦♀️
