I've been taking Thai NDT for several years now, and although I have felt better than when I was on Levothyroxine, I haven't achieved a totally symptom free state yet. My latest blood results show mid range normal T4 and slightly higher than normal range T3 by a few degrees only. This has been the case for several blood tests. Is it the case you keep upping your dose irrespective of the blood results, until you feel your best, or stick with what the blood tests say? I know if I go higher my GP will have a fit and say I'm overdosing.
You should not adjust your dose to please your doctor! It´s often said that people on NDT should aim for midrange FT4 and FT3 in the upper third of range. However, those are only guidelines, not an absolute truth! Blood tests only show what´s in our blood, not our cells where metabolic activity takes place. If you are still symptomatic, you could try to raise your dose slightly (by adding 1/4 grain...easier said than done with 1 grain pills, I know...) and see if you notice an improvement. Don´t add more than 1/4 grain at a time so you don´t miss your sweet spot...I´ve been using Metavive I (15 mg) to do that as I find cutting the hard pills (Thyroid-S) a real hassle.
