Would some kind person direct me to where I may read of the comparison of various forms of estrogen please? I see others talking of oestrogel and I do not know what that is or the advantage. I am so out of the loop last few years. You know everything seems to level off and u reach a comfortable place and drop out sort of. Now I am at a loss once more and wishing to understand how to best use hormones at my post menopausal late stage. I use the patch for 4 days of the week, .025mgs. I had to add 1 gram of the cream internally every 3-4 days due to dryness. I have always read that bio-identical is best but I am now hearing also dissenting input re. that issue and it has to be paid for out of pocket which is not possible for me. I can tell many of you are really up to speed on this. Give me a little hand up please? Thanks!

Hormones 101 Please?
I have noticed this with my thyroid medication, throughout past year . My daily dosage is 125mcg ,but the 25mcg tablet is larger than the 100mcg tablet, however its working fine . I have recently collected new prescription and they have reverted to 100mcg being the larger one 😊
Hello 👋 HRT can be very confusing. I would suggest you look at Balance.com.
Dr Louise Newsom who set up this is in my mind a flippin genius. She explains things in very simple terms. She does podcasts and you can see YouTube videos.
Her ethos is no woman needs to be without hormones that they loose during menopause. 🤷♀️
I hope that helps x
Check out Dr Louise Newsons website for evidence based information on everything hrt and menopause related.
You can reliably approach your GP with this information (print off or send GP links) as she and her colleagues actually teach GPs how to prescribe and deal with menopause.
Not an area the older generation of medics appear to be clued up on.
Yep it’s not only thyroid areas there’s a few areas that’s skimmed over unfortunately.
Madness when over 50% of the population if reach the age of menopause, have to deal with this.
There’s an app too, lots of chat on there for help.
She has Instagram and Fb pages
Menopause Matters is another.
Oestrogel and hrt at the moment is short in supply, and there’s some controversy over bottles of this gel there’s one with an orange square🟧 and another with a green square🟩 on the bottom of bottles, as some are seeing return in symptoms.
Like the oestrodose v oestrogel palaver.
If anyone reading this has return of symptoms make your GP aware and fill out MHRA yellow card about it
There’s an app for this also.
Again there’s information on this debacle on Instagram possibly other social media places.
Harley street Emporium did a podcast a while back there maybe newer information now on various menopause Instagram/Fb posts but not checked recently just aware of the problem.
Lot of info in your reply, CM1. Kind of you to share. Let me say this: I am lately very ADHD and OCD not to mention overwhelmed and I do mean that truly!! with dealing with insurance companies and providers and physical therapists and such that I begin to become extremely nervous such that I have to just walk away when it comes to reading and making sense of stuff online. I try to find an advocate who can talk for me, but my oldest dau. who might do this is in crisis aplenty herself right now with surgeries for herself and her husband. I say all of this because when I clicked on Dr. Newsome's site, I kind of lost it again. I should have titled my request "Hormones 101 cliff notes?" That said, Lovely Person, I will give it a shot and see how I do. Thanks so much! BTW I am over 75 and it is a challenge to make a come back after numerous things gone wrong physically including Osteoporosis but I am not giving up.
Small steps, one thing in place at a time.I’m a mum of a Psychologist and aware of many aspects of mental health, anxiety and nervousness and being overwhelmed and is something we all have dips in from time to time, you’re not alone. ☺️
Write things down tackle one area at a time, do things at your pace if possible ask a friend if they can help too.
Sleep and nutrition are good places to start I’ve found.
Just sharing this I’ve just seen .You might want to ask your questions to the Dr regarding menopause/hormone queries.
