1/4 Grain Make That Much Difference

For those on NDT, do you find 1/4 grain to make a big difference one way or the other? I am trying to find my sweetspot and it feels like there is a huge difference in my mood and anxiety level between 1 1/4 grain and 1 1/2 grain of NP Thyroid. Is that possible? I know I must have the T3 and can feel when it is not adequate.

Maybe those on T3 only can relate as well.

In short - yes! I have just tipped over to being overmedicated with terrible symptoms by adding ONLY 1/8 grain of Armour!I tweak by 1/8 anyways

Okay...that is comforting to know. I can't believe the difference in such a small amount. When I was overmedicated, I was just very tired. When undermedicated, I am jittery and emotional. That is probably the opposite reaction for most people.

It's true, but think about it that it is cumulative, so that 9.5 mcg t4 and 2.25 t3 over weeks is building up.

I can tell you that I'm fatigued when overdosed and get confusing symptoms like dry elbows , irritation, heaviness and pain. Everyone is very different, but I certainly don't feel full of energy when overdosed

My overdosed and underdosed symptoms are similar, always!

Okay. I will go back to 1 1/2 grains and hope I feel better. I was overdosed on 2 grains. It is strange that underdosed and overdosed can look the same. I think my skin was more dry skin when overdosed than underdosed. I never fit the "textbook" case in most things. My doctor finds me challenging because I have so many hormone embalances. Fortunately, he hasn't given up trying to get things level.

Do you split your dose?

You can try, but that's half of grain difference, you may only need 1/8 or 1/4 less if you are sensitive to changes.Yes! My skin is drier when overdosed than when underdosed, I also get really itchy skin. It is not usual to have same symptoms for under and over.

I don't split my dose. In my case, splitting dose makes me feel worse.

Absolutely. In fact, I take 2 grains five days a week, and 2.25 on Mondays and Fridays. If I take more I get a rapid pulse and feel stressed; if I take less, my legs start to swell up and my concentration subtly deteriorates. My doctor says I am very sensitive to NDT and that a lot of other people don't notice bigger differences than that. I also find that taking 500mg magnesium helps stabilise the pulse - and I really don't have any problems with rapid heartbeat anymore and can do a lot of exercise with no probs.

I too notice similar (hypo) changes when I am slightly over medicated. I get hair loss, headaches & itchy skin. It’s so hard to find the sweet spot as it changes (for me) depending on season eg in winter I need more than in summer and if I’m out and about a lot or exercising I need more.

Yes it does make a difference I take 2.25 grains of Thyroid s every day in two takes.2.5 is too much, 2 is too little. It took me around two years to sort this out, but it works for

me.

At the beginning of year I upped my dose by 1/4 grain and it made me feelnormal again. Amazing it took so little to feel so much better.

I am also finding an adjustment problem with small amounts of Armour. I've had problems with 1 and half grain and 1 and quarter. I find it takes about 12 days to get the full effect of the adjustment. I'm back to 1 grain again for the second time which I know is just not quite enough. This 12 day waiting gives you a false sense of security and then wallop it hits you. I will give it a while and try again.

Yes. I'm undermedicated on 1.5 grains of thyroid S and over on 1.75. I've taken to halving a quarter of a pill. I bite it in half.

I used to to NDT until it was withdrawn due to issues and felt it wasn’t doing it’s job anymore. I’m guessing you are getting a more updated version with no issues if so can you please private message me your supplier

I have been on 1 1/2 grains for 3 days and today I have been a weepy mess. I made myself stay busy, even when I was crying. Maybe I need to go back to 1 1/4 grains and give it more time to settle.

This also could be from reducing from 2 grains down to 1.5 grains within last month...I only even increase/decrease by 1/8 grains, otherwise my symptoms and labwork reduce/increase too much
