Roma Liothyronine Sodium hard capsules

I’ve had a very informative telephone conversation with Roma Pharma regarding the newly licensed hard capsules. Apparently they have been available since 10 January 2022 and, if your Pharmacy is telling you that they can’t get them, then Wholesalers on the following list are now fully aware of them and should be able to supply any Pharmacy who orders from them:

Phoenix Healthcare

Alliance

Mawdssley

Lexon

If your Pharmacy continues to have problems, they can ring Roma on 01283 890091.

The downside is the cost. I’ve so far been quoted by Specialist Pharmacy (on the ThyroidUK.org list) at:

5 mcg = £101.00 for 28 capsules

10 mcg = £119.00 for 28 capsules

20 mcg = £101.00 for 28 capsules

I must admit to being really disappointed by the price, being someone who can’t tolerate NDT or the excipients in all the other T3 tablets I’ve tried (5 in total, including reasonably priced to extortionate) I was really looking forward trying these.

Thank you for posting - and I entirely agree about cost.

Given they are manufactured in Greece, where I assume they will be competing with UniPharma liothyronine tablets, which are very inexpensive, I had hoped they would run out at least a little less expensive than the existing tablets.

I agree with helvella with regard to cost. You would also have to ensure that the product is an authentic T3 and you are purchasing from an authentic supplier.

You probably would be able to fly to Greece for a holiday and source your T3 from different pharmacists at the same time. They may require a prescription.

Their prices are not extorionate.
