When would you get a thyroid ultrasound?

I have noticed a slight swelling on one side of my neck around my thyroid. I have recently had my antibodies checked and the gp confirmed Hashi diagnosis. Should I be concerned and do I need an ultrasound ? I guess that this is caused by the Hashi but wanted to check wether I need to speak to the gp now about it or can it wait for my 6-8 week review - I recently had my dose increased from 25 to 50 so routine check. Thanks for any advice

I was referred for scan for a one sided swelling. It wasn’t noticeable until I swallowed or drank something, then it was very obvious.

I think as is one sided you have argument to find out what’s causing it.

I’m in the US and I get thyroid U/S scans yearly. I think they started when my endo felt some nodules. The scans are to monitor their size, growth and density. I do not notice them (no trouble swallowing and no neck swelling). I’ve also had two guided Fine Need Aspiration procedures over the years and so far so good (nothing cancerous). I’m due for another FNA in March.
