Diagnosed hypothyroidism since 16

I have been taking Levothyroxine since 16, (I am 30 next month )currently on 100 mcg daily. After being unhappy with my doctors outlook on my thyroid problem I joined this site and was advised to upload my full TSH T4 and T3. The doctors were not very helpful when I asked for these and had to be persistent. Could anyone shed some light on my results and if I could do anything to help myself with tiredness levels etc. I am also going for a full b12 and follate test after asking for these results too. Seems they do care. Thankyou in advance Rocha

Hi Rocha

Well they're "in range" [dread phrase] but they're not great, so if it were me, I'd be asking for an extra 25 mcg a day.

Once we're on levo, TSH is relatively unimportant. You def want it to be less than 2 (which it is) but don't worry if it goes below range - even if it goes very low ... your actual thyroid hormones matter more.

Your free T4 is poor at only 33.5% through range. You want this MUCH higher - I would want it a good 75% or higher through range myself. And free T3 is 30% through range - so balanced with free T4, but also MUCH too low. Most of us want this a good 2/3 through range.

And you are right to test nutrients - ferritin, folate, vit D and B12 - as you are likely to feel better, and your levo will work better, when these are optimal x

Looking at previous post….you use to be on 200mcg

Now on 100mcg

These results suggest you are under medicated

Was test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH and lowest Ft4

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Request 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

And get vitamin levels tested

Vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements….if yes what
