help with new results before my next Endo appointment

My endo is desperate to discharge me, he is also determined to have me on a 100/125 mcg regime despite having been told I am unwell with that dosage, poor digestion, fatigue, weakness in leg muscles and breathlessness. During our telephone consult in May I raised the issue of T3, he informed me that he does sometime trial it but he still hasn't requested it on my blood tests.

He sent me a letter in september to reduce it from 125mcg to 100/125 mcg.

TSH 2.14 0.27-4.2

T4 21 12-22

Medichecks

TSH 2.26 0.27-4.2

T4 20.8 12-22

T3 4.07 3.1-6.8 26.22%

Recent Medicheck result, sample taken at the same time as the blood test for Endo, awaiting his call.

TSH 4.34 0.27-4.2

T4 19.5 12-22

T3 3.93 3.1-6.8 22.43%

All bloods taken first thing prior to Levo.

Vitamin levels still rubbish, recently discovered that due to not having a gall bladder absorption of certain vits is difficult, having private help dealing with that.Ferritin is rising again , from 245 to 305 (13-150). Was informed last year by GP receptionist that 245 was normal. Feel I'm between a rock and a hard place, Endo/GP.

any advice you could give would be appeciated.

And beforeI forget, Happy New Year!

Clearly conversion rate of Ft4 to Ft3 is poor

First step is to get all vitamins optimal

Previous post

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

shows vitamin D, folate and B12 needed improving

Presumably you are now taking

Vitamin B complex and Vitamin D daily

Are you now on absolutely strictly gluten free diet

Ferritin often rises after menopause and/or inflammation

Have you had full iron panel test to check iron not too high as well

Likely to need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine once vitamin levels are optimal

Email Thyroid UK for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3 or NDT

...NHS and Private

Thanks slow dragon as usual very helpful. I’m as gluten free as possible, have been trying another solution to my vitamin absorption, unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be working so I’m back to Vit D oral spray, had a very helpful chat with my pharmacist. Had a full iron panel 12 months ago, nothing untoward.

Personally I find best is vitamin D oral spray…..4000iu in summer…..5000-6000iu in winter

Plus separate magnesium supplement

Everyone is individual as to how much vitamin D they need

Hence important to test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

Aiming for at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Hey there:

Just a thought :

So since you haven't gall bladder would liquid T4 make any sense for you ?

I definitely think you would benefit from a small dose of T3 - basically to replace that which you have lost by having had RAI ablation.

Your endo can' t do much more if there is just monotherapy withT4 on the table for him/her to play with.

Up or down a 25mcg T4 -is simply skirting the real issue which is that your body needs back some T3 to kick start your metabolism .

Would he write you a private prescription for T3 as I believe we can now now buy it cheaper than the NHS can ?

I don’t think there is an issue with levo absorption, I’ll ask the Endo. I hadn’t thought about requesting a private prescription for T3 from him. Thanks.
